I have these in my backup bag... EXCELLENT value for anyone looking for something forged GI with the look of a player's CB. I could sub these in for my Forged Tec without blinking if necessary. The cast A4-R is solid too, but they're both so cheap you aren't saving any money getting them over the forged A4.

TaylorMade Speedblades. I've had 5 different sets of Mizuno forged, various other forged sets from Tourstage, Nike, Cobra etc. Nothing keeps the Speedblades out of the bag for long - they keep bouncing back in. Hard to believe maybe, but they just flat out perform.

I will say there was nothing like making that jump to my first set of forged clubs. I was on top of the word with those Callaways. Then I stumbled into the WRX clubmaking sub-forum. The callaways said that they didn't appreciate my wandering eye, didn't like the suggestion that I try out other irons, and eventually left me. I wallowed for a few years before finding happiness again with the Miuras.

What is your all time favorite set of irons or sets of irons?

 

My personal favorite: the latest Srixon offerings. I play the Z765, but could have easily played with the 965's. They're such a great feeling, easy to hit set of forged irons. With the improved VT sole, they're easily some of the most accurate irons I have ever it.

I have fond memories of my Cobra Carbon CB's. They were surprising soft for a cast club and they looked pretty good at address.

JPX900F...I switched from SGIs and these are so much cleaner and smaller while i feel like I have lost next to nothing in forgiveness. And the turf interaction is fantastic.

The only irons I kept long enough to wear out were my S57s. Loved those irons, and played them very well for my skill level (4 and change at that time).

 

Having said that, I may have finally found their replacement in my recently acquired iBlades. Time will tell.

I am long time Ping loyalist and played all the i series irons going back to the original i3 blades up to the i20's.

 

I finally wanted a true one pcs forged iron set and after extensive testing, I settled on the Srixon 765's. In the end, the 765's beat out the JPX 900F and Bridgestone J15's.

 

They are longer then all the Ping irons I played, a little more forgiving then the Pings, workability is equal with the i series irons, and the best feeling irons I've ever played.

 

The 765's have exceeded all my expectations and I don't see myself moving away from Srixon any time soon.
