Conference is at the JW Marriott - Mall of America - Renting a car is a possibility.

If you're staying by the Mall of America and have a rental car I'd recommend The Meadows at Mystic Lake Casino, or Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake. Both are on the south side of town and not too far of a drive. I'd also recommend Keller Golf Course, a nice & recently remodeled Ramsey County track. Keller hosted 2 PGA's back in the day, just be prepared for the tree on #4 and accept it. If you have time to make a little longer drive, I'd recommend the Le Sueur Country Club. It's an off the radar gem, located in a grove of trees in farm country south of the Twin Cities.

I'm gonna be in Minneapolis/St. paul are for my nieces bat mitzvah in late August. Figure I can squeeze at least one round in. Is Troy Burne definitely the way to go? What are the other nice courses around the Twin Cities?

While living in the area for 5 years, Troy Burne was the best public course I played if you're willing to drive 30-40 minutes. IMO it was better than Rush Creek, Chaska Town Course, Links of Northfork, The Refuge etc.

For the Lawsonia faithful it is a great option. Very much a links style course with a great deal more sand. If the wind is blowing you will be tested. I like the course a lot.

If you need a grinder to make your weld look good, you are a grinder not a welder.

I'm coming from Green Lake, it looks like Troy Burne is right on the way into the Twin Cities. Could hit it on the way in or out of town pretty easily, right?

Yeah might be a little bit out of the way for you but not terrible. It's worth the detour.

Another rando course to add to the mix, that is shorter, but always in great shape would be Dwan in Bloomington. It's about 10 minutes from the MOA and a fun track that is getable. If you are looking for a legit C.C. style course, I'll agree w/ the others. Troy Burne, Legends, Stoneridge are all 30-40 mins away and are all fantastic courses.

I actually like The Legends course in Prior Lake better than Troy Burne and it will be closer to you. An underrated course is Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan. I'd argue the most scenic golf setting in the Twin Cities area. Only downside is if you're playing on the weekend, the can have slow rounds.
