Toe hang mallets are the future. The stability that they offer at a pro and amateur level just can't seem to be ignored.

I was at Golf Galaxy yesterday and the first putter I searched for was this one. Once TM comes out with this version with a slant neck, they will sell like crazy. They better hurry it up before he goes back to the Scotty....

The way he putted today...I don't think it's in any danger. Call it a hunch.

If Francisco didn't put on a Ball Striking CLINIC...Tiger might have had a shot today. The guy was on fire.

Even more crazy are the Titleist guys with NO Cameron in their bag, in particular Billy Haas and Jimmy Walker. You know that has to make Scotty feel great ha.

Jimmy went back to that GSS newport 2 this week. But you are correct. He’d had a spider in for a couple months before.

No way Tiger goes back to a blade style for the Open. The Ardmore 3 looked like a great fit for him. Already selling like craxy just this week. Glad he also likes the black one better than the red. Looks better to me. These mallets with toe hang make them playable for a lot more golfers. I like a slight arc stroke and cannot go SBST, so I avoid all pure face balanced putters. But if it has just a little toe hang, say 30 degrees, it’s a different ballgame.

I see the Ardmore 3 as a nice fit for Carnoustie’s greens. It is not a huge mallet, mid-sized at best, so it is not like he has gone to a Futura 7 series. I noticed Hossler plays the face-balanced Ardmore 2. He’s an excellent putter too.

Tiger made progress by putting the TM putter in play. No reason not to keep at it.

The time is now for them. Strike while the iron is hot!

If they are smart, they start taking pre-orders in the morning.

This is one of the reasons why they sign pros like TW, to sell clubs. I’d buy one for the man cave if it is released.

Why did he not go see Scoty at his shop or have him come and help him find what he needs? $?

Seems odd that Cameron is not involved..

starting to see a lot more mallet and MOI type putters, less and less camerons and blade type putters.

Probably he is not allowed to use another companies putter unless it a certain scotty.

I would bet tiger uses any putter he wants to. And to @Sanders - What reason would there be for him to ask Titleist to make him a putter when he has access to TM and any putter he wants? TM could literally make him anything he wants and they are paying him so......

You would be surprised. Taylormade doesnt want to have one of their big guns with another companies sticks in their bag; its not good for business. If Tiger is using his trusty old scotty, then it doesnt really hurt their brand because he has used that puttter forever, but if he got a new scotty instead of a taylormade, it tells the average joe, taylormade putters suck. If Tiger was wasnt such a big name, theyvcould careless.

I disagree that there's any sort of contractual obligation on Tiger's part. If TaylorMade had a clause in Tiger's contract regarding putters, one would expect that they'd be able to advertise if Tiger ever put a TaylorMade putter into play. But if you haven't noticed, not a single word has been spoken by TM regarding Tiger's use of the Ardmore 3. No tweets, no posts here, nothing. That leads me to believe that he's free to use whatever he wants.

So why a TM putter and not some other brand? Over the years Tiger has proven himself to be a company man through and through. He knows who butters his bread and has always been good to his sponsors. I'd wager he knows it would be a bad look for TM if he took out the NP2 and put a brand other than TM into play, so he picked something made by his current equipment sponsor. I think it's as simple as that.

The one foot miss yesterday was probably the nail in the coffin for the Ardmore. Looked good from long range but short putts were shaky.

I'll repost in regards to him being contractually obligated to TM putters-

..Per Forbes article: "Woods, who is now sponsored by TaylorMade after years of using equipment made by Nike Inc., is not required to use the company's putters. After his second round using the new putter, Woods concurred with Long's assessment of his play on the greens".

He is not going to dump it over a single missed putt. He was terrible with the newport all season. I predict it stays in the bag for the Open. If he were to switch back again right away, it means he is really grasping. Looking at the entire tournament, he was better with the mid-mallet.

I noticed that, too... and I haven't been watching a whole lot... wonder how many other that aren't in the spotlight have done the same... I actually really like the JD spider, super stable is a perfect way to describe it. Scotty's are fine but in reality no better than an Odyssey O works.

He had a pair of 2.5 gram weights in it if that helps. What is stock for the Ardmore 3?

Ordered one this morning!

Picked it up in the pro shop and felt like a more manageable feel that my spider. Sometime I have a hard time getting a feel for distance on slower greens with the Spider. Maybe the Ardmore will be the best of Mallet and feel worlds!

It's 350 with 10 gram weights. So I guess Tiger's is around 335.

Tiger's stroke is pure. He could putt with almost anything. It's just a confidence thing with him.
