Never liked TM putters, and as long as they do these plastic-y inserts, it’s unlikely to change my mind. Think a lot of other folks who feel the same way, at least here on WRX.

 

But if Tiger actually wins with this putter, or more importantly, his putting improves majorly because of the change and he wins, then that might at least get me to give some serious thought to trying it out!

When I heard he put a new putter in, I was thinking it was a Spider. This putter rocks though. I think he needs to simplify his putting and a mallet will do that.

I agree with an earlier post...Can you possibly IMAGINE the reactions on here if he were to shed that ping grip for a Super Stroke?? Golfwrx servers might crash.

 

He actually tested a super stroke a while back. Maybe even used it a round or two . Can’t recal exactly. Was a proto midslim of some sort.

What’s next for TW? P790 irons and Hi-Toe wedges?

 

A Hi-Toe is probably in the near future. With the undeniable success the other top TM Pros are having with it, he can't ignore the results/performance for much longer. Rosey,DJ, Rory, Day, and Rahm all have already holed out several times and have been fantastic around the green with it.

 

Most likely with some heavy MT influences/participation. ?

Just a thought but his new bff JT made a similar switch about a year ago, going from a NP 2 to a X5 with a similar neck to TW's TM putter. I wonder if playing practice rounds with JT had any influence on his putter switch?

Really though, love the switch/tinkering. Clearly hasn’t been comfortable with the putter and can use some kind of spark. Hope he uses it and wins!

 

Also hope Taylormade releases that head shape with the slant neck and same amount of toe hang as the spider

All I can say is that if he finishes near the top this week with that putter, Taylormade better start loading containers full of them because they will be disappearing from shelves like bread before a hurricane.

Just like Bridgestone are selling containers full of Tour B XS golf balls and Nike are selling containers full of...oh, wait.

 

I’m an unashamed Tiger fan but I think his infuence on equipment is limited.

I have the Ardmore 3 L-neck in red and really love the thing. I played yesterday and was sinking all sorts of putts with it. For me, it feels so balanced and comfortable I have a lot of confidence with it. As some have mentioned in here they don't like TaylorMade Putters too much, neither have I in the past, but this one is my gamer right now.

The current flow neck Ardmore 3 is awesome and a great replacement for a Spider. I've considered getting one as a backup and something to replace my spiders every once in a while. It's like using a Spider, just with less MOI. It's a great putter if you like mallets with toe hang.

Not a Scotty cameron player but know they make blade putters with more toe hang than what he used.....mayne he did idk

I debated on buying this putter for about a month. Hit probably 100 balls in store with it, just trying to convince myself that it would be a decent putter. But, when you look at the quality of putters TM puts out, I don't want a putter with chipped paint, broken inserts, or wear from simply putting the putter back inside the headcover.

 

I have wanted to buy a spider forever, and it's not the price keeping me away, it's the quality. If I spend $300, I'd like to at least get something that isn't going to look like it's worth $30 six months down the line simply because I used it to putt, and put it back inside it's headcover.

It's the town in PA where Merion is. Not sure that's the reason for the putter name though.

Sure, just like the dozens of DJ's Spyder putter growing cobwebs on our store's putting green. Tour players do not motivate club sales otherwise Nike would have dominated the market during Wood's great years. Where is Nike now, clothing and shoes excepted?

I have the Ardmore 2 in Red and it chips like the pictures above in the same place.

 

Been putting really well with it recently though so won't be switching it out any time soon
