Starting to feel like Deal or no Deal with the music in the background sounding like a pounding heart beat.

We will know in less than 2 hours haha.

He should be starting his warm up soon so maybe we’ll see.

I would think he would be one of the featured groups, right?

I would say that’s pretty much guaranteed

Sure, just like the dozens of DJ's Spyder putter growing cobwebs on our store's putting green. Tour players do not motivate club sales otherwise Nike would have dominated the market during Wood's great years. Where is Nike now, clothing and shoes excepted?

Tell that to Ely Callaway and John Daly Daly made callaway and Big Berthas

TM does not move in the store i work at because they are literally the only company that does not pay a commission to sell their clubs. There is literally zero incentive to push anything TM. no one leave our store with TM unless they walked in with the mindset they were buying a TM club or nothing else.

I get where you are coming from but Tiger is different than anyone else in golf and most other athletes in general. TM will see more putters this week. Will it double sales, no probably not. I know I am not the only one that has been to TM's site multiple times and have one in my cart.

There are too many variables to compare Nike to anything, really. Nike golf was profitable, just not at the level Nike expects. Plus when Nike Golf was in its "prime" is when Tigger went through his 2009 crap, then injuries.

That's messed up. So if I come in to demo or get fit, you're going to intentionally not sell me a TM product just because you benefit more? (not you personally, but your store)

Is it just to your store or across all retailers? This is massive news to me...

Guess you've never been in sales. This is literally the approach by every sales person in every industry. Sales people/stores are going to sell what generates the most revenue..human nature..its at the heart of capitalism. I don't work in golf but work in Financial Services and it certainly is the way it works in my industry. Wife works in medical field...same thing. Rinse and repeat across every industry.

c

it is across the industry. i will not talk you out of a TM product if that is what you are interested in, they make good equipment. But, if someone comes in wanting to buy something and they do not have a preference coming in. I will not start there feel me? Yes, it is industry wide that TM is a joke as a company (not their equipment, which again is solid). They are the absolute worst company to deal with. They have the worst customer service. Everything is also 6 weeks back ordered....

Also for complete transparency, this is 100% about me. To the store it makes no difference. I make a commission on literally every brand in the store except TM.

So then why would TM not pay commission? If it's that wide spread and you know retailers won't push your product, it seems obvious you'd want to stay competitive by participating.

Do they think marketing alone is enough to push product?

it is because they were recently bought by an investment group. That should explain it all. they laid off a ton of people, they fired the rep we had for the store, we have not had anyone come in rep'ing TM since the buyout. They are cutting every cost they possibly can in hopes of making it an attractive purchase for someone else.

I figured. Makes me leery of buying any 2018 and beyond TM product.

I don't know if you need to worry about that. Again, they make good equipment. it may just be hard to get. They are just not the first rack that i head towards if someone walks in and says "i am looking for a new driver", that's all. I never talk it down or say it is terrible. That shows a lack of integrity.

It amazes me actually that this isn’t more commonly known. I suppose our WRx members working in pro shops don’t want to talk about it.

TM is not at all the company it was just a couple years ago. I know a ton of good long term reps got the axe all over the country. Supply issues are hideous.

My buddy owns one of the best “old school” privately owned pro shops in Ohio right here in Columbus, Par Discount Golf. He despises TM so much he won’t stock anything of theirs. He wouldn’t even take a nice TM putter I brought in for a trade in a few months ago. Hahaha! That’s some hard core hatred!

He said they give the big guys, Golf galaxy, Dicks, etc., such massive volume discounts that the stand alone little guys simply have no incentive to buy from them anymore.

What a sad commentary on the unfettered state of capitalism in the US right now.

or it simply sad that TM is the only company not willing to do what is needed to sell its product. Even Titleist, TITLEIST pays a commission. Give me another company that is as brand centric and staunch as them?

capitalism works, because it is all primed by motivation. if you don't incent how can you expect to succeed in a highly competitive market? whatever market that may be. That does not mean that i dont do the absolute best i can for my customers, or short change them in some way if that is what you are thinking.

Profit-wise per club Taylormade is the worst I sell what the customer needs but definitely make more from the other companies...

Maybe he should go back to the baggy look from 2000, I'm sure the ridiculous tight shirts don't help anyone play good golf!

I for one, play so much better in the right attire. Put me in a tight sweater and my swing is crap, take it off to go short-sleeve and it's a whole new ballgame.
