Planning a trip to Kohler in September and may have time for an extra round around Milwaukee before heading to Kohler. Playing Erin Hills already on this trip as well. Looking for any ideas or suggestions?

Washington County or Brown Deer would be my suggestions, Brown Deer is right in the north part of the city. Washington County is by Erin Hills

Yep. I'll third those two. Washington County is, in my opinion, the better option. Despite the vanilla muni name, it's an excellent course with a lot of variety and no forgettable holes. Another, more under-the-radar choice is The Broadlands in North Prairie. Layout-wise, it's very good. The greens roll pretty true at about a 9, and it's inexpensive. I'd call it a hidden gem, except I've played long rounds there so clearly other people know about it.

Lack of width at Wash. County? Not sure I agree, but maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean. However, you can not beat the twilight rate after 3 pm at Washington County. $36 with a cart!

As others mentioned: Washington County. Play it as a warmup for Erin Hills. It's kind of a "mini" version of EH. Really good layout and always in fine shape.

 

If you're looking for something between MKE and Kohler, someone already suggested Brown Deer. The Bull is near Kohler and is supposed to be really good, in its own right. If you're looking for more of a tuneup course, you could try Fire Ridge in Grafton, about halfway between MKE and Kohler.

Played Bull, Washington County and Brown Deer. Cant go wrong with any of them and they are all different from each other.
