Tour Only ProV1

There is a tour only Pro-V1 on the current conforming ball list with the side stamp of Pro-V1 (Star). Which back in the day was the first 4 piece Pro-V1 model at retail before it morphed into the Pro-V1X. Saw a few current V1 (Star) dozens on Ebay earlier this year. The current V1 (Star) is a 3 piece ball with 352 dimples. No idea of the playing characteristics.

Yesterday I played a course which recently hosted a Korn Ferry Tour event and I found a Titleist ProV1x with "TOUR" stamped in red on the ball. I did not remember to look for any additional markings on the type line, but I wondered if this ball is different than the retail ball in any way, besides the stamp. The ball played excellent, anecdotally, and re enforced my belief that the ProV is the best ball out there and if not for the price, would probably be my gamer.

I am very interested In the answer to this if anyone knows it.  I play at a university course and have found several of the ProV1's labeled "Tour", both V1 and V1x.  I can't tell a bit of difference in the way that they play; distance, spin, any of it, but I wouldn't necessarily expect to.  Nobody that I asked has any idea, either.

Probably practice balls for the range.

I'm very interested in this - what tour only ball offerings are out there (even beyond Titleist)? I've been trying to figure out, but it's not a question conducive to searching.....

Titleist TS2, 15, Hzrdus Smoke Black 70, 6.0

Apex UW, 19, AD-DI 8S

Srixon ZX, 23

Ping i230, 5-PW, Modus 120x

Ping S159, 48.12 S (at 49)

Vokey SM10, 54.12 D

Vokey SM9, 60.12 D (at 59)

Odyssey Triple Track Ten S, 34"

Z-Star Diamond

Well. I got six Pro V1x+ when I bought some Pro V1 practice balls.  So they’re still out there.

I thought of this post today when I was looking at the USGA Conforming ball list. On the list are 4 entries from Titleist that show the 2nd pole marking on the ball as TOUR. No further explanation on what they are however. Here are the entries. The first two are the new 2021 ball models and the bottom two are the current 2019/20 models. Wonder what the story is?

EDIT - According to a used golf ball (LGB) site these appear to be balls used on the range at tour events.
