Cobra F9 Speedback Driver.

 

I rarely update clubs, so in the last decade-and-a-half went from a TaylorMade r510 to a TaylorMade R15 and now to the Cobra F9.

 

Significant improvement in accuracy off the tee for me. Slight increase in distance as well.

During a sale on CPO picked up a 2016 Big Bertha 3 hybrid with the same Kuro Kage Black shaft that is in my Apex hybrid. Thought for the price it would be a fun experiment. Thing is ridiculous, it unseated the Apex without an issue. I’ve hit more par 5’s in two in just a few weeks than I ever did with the Apex, and I did hit the Apex well. This thing is just point and shoot though, high & straight.

The best/biggest change for me? Ditching my pricey i500 irons for F9 Speedback irons. Night and day difference in my game.

Combo of Epic Flash (moved from the Epic) and the 2019 Pro V1. Add on a few extra mph of swing speed and hitting it to spots on my course I've only driven past on the way to my third shot!

Switching back to Vokey wedges from Callaway MD forged. Liked the Callaways but the Vokeys have a more predictable flight for me. Also switching to TP5x ball. I play on a links course and need a ball that cuts through the wind

Two big changes

 

G30 to a G400 9* driver - gained considerable distance with the new head. Kept the same Ping tour 80X shaft from my G30 and it has been a big improvement. was hitting my G30 really well, but always felt like I was losing a lot of distance.

 

Modus 105S to LZ 6.5 in my irons. The heavier weight shafts have helped my accuracy tremendously. I never knew where the club head was with the lighter shafts and felt like i could get a little off path with them. The heavier shafts have significantly helped this and have allowed me to shape shots better .

I have a few nice changes:

- Back to my X100 Shafts. Lovely. Never again with a C-Taper or "Lite" club.

- Threw all of my Kirklands in the trash. Deuces, garbage ball.

- S400 in the TM Hi-Toe. No more noodle shaft.

- And I'm finally going back to GI irons. No more thin soled stuff.

Switching to the two VA Composite Raijin shafts in my driver and three wood. Fabulous.

Adding the Titleist TS2. The hype is real and for a 65 y/o those yards are helpful.

I took my Cobra f7 3 hybrid out of my bad and added a Callaway Rogues 5 wood.

 

My home course plays 6400 yards from the back tees. It has a lot of holes that require a tee shot of 210 to 250 and I'm hitting my 5 wood 225-235 off the tee. That's a little bit further than my hybrid was and I can control the flight and shape much better. It's really helped me hit more fairways and put myself in better positions.

Going from a set of iBlades I picked up in the middle of last season back to my trusty Mizuno MP-59s. After 3 shots with the 59s back in the back I started wondering what the hell I was thinking ever straying from them. I'll probably get a fitting at the end of this season and get a more recent set of Mizunos, but for now these are staying

Went from a TaylorMade Slidr -> Ping G410 + and gained 5-15 yards but most importantly my dispersion got much tighter.

Adams XTD Forged/Recoil 125 Prototype. Sooooo accurate.

After a couple years with my I20's, went on a blade kick and picked up 3 sets over the winter. Adams MB2 raws and a swing where I'm not trying to force the issue all the time and actually go back to trying to shape the ball a bit.

A few generations old Mizuno CLK 22 degree Hybrid with Diamana Thump 90X. Consistent 220-230 fairway finder. It's the most accurate club in my bag, sadly.

 

Looking at new wedges, new irons and snapped my driver shaft last game, so I have a bit of shopping to do, but I have two clubs that aren't going any place, the CLK and the flat stick.

Switching to Z Star golf ball and Z 585 irons. Been money.

M5 driver and put a set of new, old stock, W/S Progressive 3-P irons in bag. 3rd set of irons in 2 weeks, I’m done. Love the old school lofts.

Upgraded my driver from a TaylorMade SLDR to an M3. The adjustable weights have actually really helped me keep my spin down so I have better ball flight and have gained some distance. Bigger than that is the forgiveness and consistency. I'm hitting about 20% more fairways so far this spring.

So far adding a Cleveland CBX 56 degree wedge and an Exotics EXS 17 degree 3 wood have been a leap forward. On the flip side, changing out a 2016 TM M2 driver to the M4 has been a big step back. I'll try one shaft change before sending it to the used club bin.

I got a set of Miura MC-501's and they have changed everything. Incredibly forgiving and so easy to hit the shot and number wanted.
