Silly question but do you still use grip tape when you blow the grips on?

I have my Gen 2 XF's on ebay now. Dont get me wrong, love PXG stuff but I found virtually no difference in the Gen 1 vs Gen 2 version.

 

Good to hear since I’ve ordered the gen ones.

 

I tested both and couldn't justify double the price for gen 2.

I hit both as well and it wasn’t the substantial difference as My 716 AP2 to the gen 1. I had maybe a mph in ball speed but nothing really else when I hit the gen 2 with a master fitter. I saw a 9 mph increase between my ap2 to gen 1 and with the heroes program it wasn’t worth double for one more to me.

I like my grips a little thicker but don't like to use multiple wraps of tape to build up. I use 2 wraps of duct tape and a midsize grip, perfect for me. If you don't need to build the grips up just use masking tape or even the blue painters tape, both will work.

I've found the blue painter's tape to be the best. Its a tad thicker than regular masking tape and much easier to remove than standard masking tape or duct tape.

Okay back on track, PXG Gen II irons are awesome. Really forgiving and great feel. Curious to see how the new Gen II 0811X drivers perform. I know they are supposedly still in "testing" whatever that means. Love the looks of the top, which they were a little deeper but we'll see. I can get over that for performance!!

The more I play these irons the more I like them. When flushed they feel magnificent.

 

I originally ordered my 0311T with C-Tapers and I just couldn't adjust. I put DG AMT S400 TI in them and they are much, much better.

 

I really want to order a hybrid as I've read they are fantastic. I just have an issue with the $60 shipping charge.

 

I also want a driver, 3 wood and wedges, but as my Dad use to say "you can want in one hand and sh^t in the other....".

So I had ordered the XF and received them in early Aug but hadn’t messed with them till now. I went for a fitting yesterday and took my gamers (Cobra Forged Tec) and also the 7 iron Pxg. I went in knowing that the fitter had already told me he didn’t believe the hype with Pxg and he quit selling them because nobody he had fit ended up in them and they weren’t better than other irons. Well...I made him take that all back yesterday LOL. The XF were significantly better for me. Ball flight was much higher, and a little longer. The feel like others have mentioned is Excellent too. Too bad I waited till my season is essentially over to put them in the bag, but I can’t wait till next season.

Let me just start before getting roasted for not knowing specifics, by saying I am by no means a good player, just trying to have fun on the course and improve. I am currently gaming a Titleist 913 D2/ Diamana D+ 72g(that I was never fitted for). SS with the 0811XF was 105, distance was carrying 250ish? The trackman went down half way through the fitting, and I was testing at an unfamiliar driving range.

FedEx facilities are usually m-f or tu-sat. I’ve had plenty of sat delivery including my pxg irons

Yah I definitely saw gains in my carry distance, but again I can’t give an accurate amount, I would probably say 10 would be a decent guess. I did notice a lot better control for me, maybe it was the shaft? Either way it worked better for me than what I currently play. Sorry, I know it’s probably not the answer you were looking for.
