Just took the plunge! 0311 xf 4 iron and 5-w 0311 gen1 with modus 120. Coming from p790's that i just can't get dialed in. Hoping for more consistent yardages from the PXG's.

Just an update on my PXG journey...

The more I play these irons the more I love them. I had a chance to play the Blue Course at Congressional Country Club this week and the PXGs really performed. I put up a 75 from the 6700 yard tees, with two doubles on the card.

It took a while for me to settle in with these, although I'm not sure why. I loved the iBlades I had previously, but the PXGs have kicked those from the bag. I took both sets out a couple of weeks ago and the iBlades performed well, as usual. But I found the 0311T were better in several areas: lower spin, straighter ball flight, lower peak height, and about 5 yards longer.

I'm not a distance chaser so that really didn't matter to me, but the lower spin and lower peak height are great (I'm a high ball hitter). I like to work the ball a little when the conditions call for it, which is not quite as easy with the 0311T as they seem to like to fly straight, but it can be done with a little more effort that it took with the iBlades.

I hit the PXGs at Club Champion just to be able to say that I did and I was very impressed. Couldn’t afford the price tag for a full set and ended up going with mizunos. I am in the market for a new driving iron and I am giving the 0311X a serious look

You should. It’s the best DI I have ever hit. The feeling when flushed is extraordinary.

Man.....I'm struggling but it's far from the PXG irons fault.....completely enjoy solid ones .....swing and tempo are just off....never looking for irons ,well a very long time....#happy#content

I switched to PXG 0311T from AP2s about a month ago. I absolutely love them. Feel is amazing. Forgiveness is totally present on shots that would flutter with my AP2s. The 7-PW are like throwing darts at the green. I am still working on the longer irons.. mainly getting the distances down since they are roughly 2 degrees stronger than the AP2s. The driving iron though.. One of the best clubs I've ever hit. Paired with the HZRDUS 105x its a damn missile launcher.

So, yeah, I'm happy with the switch! Looking forward to a full season with these next year.

The PXG 0311P were the perfect replacement for my Callaway Epics which replaced Callaway CF 16's. I originally purchased the TM P790's to replace the Epics but distance control issues and them just never feeling right led me to dump the P790's. The 0311P's are the the Goldilocks between the CF 16's and Epics, forged face in a distance iron that feel great when you hit them.

Play what ever your comfortable with. I’m a 9 handicap this year and I play the 0311T. No issues. It can depend to on why your handicap is where it’s at. For me my irons are my bread and butter but my driving kills me. If you’re playing MBs and CBs you could play the original 0311 or the Ts. The Ts would still be bigger than what your playing. Size comparison of the Ts are same as the P770. Ts are very forgiving for me

PXG is promoting a very good discount for Gen 1, $175/club.

My handicap is 12, but based on their online calculations, PXG recommends a XF set. Is that too much forgiving for me as I am playing MBs, and CBs?

Thanks.

The discount is even bigger for military and first responders and it’s been a huge success. Their recommendation is purely based on the info you entered and not taking into account your likes/dislikes or contact/consistency of strike.

Only you can determine if that’s too much. The xf will be thicker sole and top line than you are used to.

I am about to pick up a set of PING i500, i210, or PXG 0311T. Can't decide between these 3, but the PXG's sure sound good!

I have never hit the i210s so I can't speak upon those but I have hit the i500s and I play the 0311T. To me, the i500s felt nice, and went a mile, but I could not get any consistency out of them. Distances were crazy long but kind of all over. The 0311T feel amazing and play very consistent to my previous irons (AP2s) as far as ball flight and shot shaping. But, the feel is unreal. I still cant get over it sometimes. I also really liked the way the 0311T looks at address compared to the i500s. I wouldn't completely rule out the i500s though, you might have a better experience with them than I did, so I would give them a try. I will say that I knew after hitting 15 balls with the 0311T that they were going in the bag. Just my .02, good luck!

I switched months ago and cut-off 12 strokes! I don't even pay attention to setup anymore....I just swing and the ball bee-lines to the hole. Amazing clubs.

Thats great but how can anyone cut off 12 strokes in months, seems a bit far fetched by just a switch in your irons. I guess there is a first for everything. Congratulations

You're very nice.....but my post was sarcasm. I have plenty of friends who LOVE their PXG's....but they shoot the same scores as before. They hit the same misses...same bladed approach shots...etc. But in the end they are having fun. .

Thanks for the feedback. Kind of leaning towards the PXG 0311T, but the i500’s are close!

I've been playing the PXG 0311T since the first generation and now have the 2nd Generation.

Was really excited about the i500 and wanted to love these with the milled wedges.

After 2 rounds I absolutely HATED the ping i500 !!!! Very clicky and they felt horrible compared to anything in my stable.

I gladly took a hit on them and dumped them.

Normally I would agree.

In my case however, I've now played six competition rounds with my new (used) PXG set and shot my handicap or better in five of those six.

Admittedly my handicap had blown out by a few shots recently (hence the new irons) so this is easier than I'd like, but I am scoring better than my old set. And more importantly they feel better.

I also suspect the change to the miraculous Golf Pride Align grips has helped, but the irons are doing what they should.

I'm glad PXG created a thread to advertise their clubs....and apparently they have minions who post fake news about how Ping and all other clubs suck compared to the PXGs. One post stated the PXG's thin top line which is laughable. Come on guys...admit it....it's a PXG thread....get rid of the "?" on the topic.

I guess you have a lot of free time on your hands if you read the entire thread about irons you aren't interested in.
