What’s the deal with the two US Open trophies. Do you get a take home version too once the year is up?

 

Yes you get one that’s 90 percent the size to keep. Same with British and PGA green jackets stay at the club after the years up

 

Seve had his jackets home, no idea why though. Saw them in a pic posted by the son

 

They took them. Gary Player, Henry Picard, and Seve just didn’t return them. The rule is jackets stay at the club, at tournaments end the jackets of members are typically returned. That rule didn’t always exist which is why you find some jackets of older members for auction.

They have. Cliff Roberts called Gary upon the realization that he hadn’t returned it, and Gary told him, “you can come fetch it.” Only after Gary promised to never wear it in public did the Club relent.

 

Picards is on display at Canterbury Golf Club, in fairness to him he had his before the “rule” that jackets remain on the premises.

 

Seve took his home after his final masters appearance in 2007?

Fun fact jackets are typically picked out that would fit the players in contention. After that a jacket is custom tailored by a tailor in Cincinnati called Hamilton Tailoring Company. A multiple winner typically only receives one jacket, unless their body changes enough to warrant a new one.

The NFL kills golf in the 1:00 and 4:00 games it goes up against. In prime time it would be way worse.

 

Nearly everything kills golf, so why fight it? But we're talking about a major championship. I think a season-ending PGA Championship would do more than OK against week 4 NFL games.

late to the party but... For us on wrx the PGA would be competitive with week 4 NFL.

 

To the rest of the world? No.

I hate how a game that nobody plays(unlike golf) is the obsession of so many people year round. I get excited about golf because I play golf. Don't get me wrong, football is exciting to watch during the season, but hoards of people are so wrapped up year-round in something they have now stake in on the field whatsoever. Endless banter and over-analyzing stats and outcomes, but to the extreme in the off-season. I know I'm in the minority here, but I take a step back from the NFL, unless my team is playing, for the sole purpose of distancing myself from the sheeple that know no other joys in life but the NFL.

 

Don't even get me started on fantasy sports' dealings.....
