golfogix or The Grint

My golflogix subscription is coming up for renewal. Was looking at The Grint.

 

Does anyone have any advice on which app they prefer ?

I just downloaded the Grint last week and so far it seems pretty cool, tons of stats if you keep track of them, but most importantly it has every course in my area. I haven’t paid for the full deal yet but I’m leaning towards it for next season, I like that it gives you a valid handicap.

Haven’t tried Grint, but while overall I think GL is pretty good, there are some issues with GolfLogix that irritate the hell out of me:

 

- It has to download a ton of info every time it starts which takes quite some time

- The putt break tool is difficult to use accurately

- The watch connection doesn’t really sync properly. I have to click “next hole” on both the phone and the watch if I’m tracking stats other than strokes and putts

 

For me GolfLogix is overpriced for what it does, particularly with all the free options out there. I like what they try to do - but they don’t seem to do it particularly well, and don’t really have a good way to provide feedback

Played the Grint today to check out the differences. On shot tracker does it work with a cart or only when walking .

It says to stand next to your ball and put in the club and the hit and walk to your ball. I can se how that would work for accuracy. But if you are in a cart and you first go to your partners ball then yours does it follow the cart distance or just the difference between where you hit the ball

I believe it only tracks the distance between your recorded shots, regardless of where you walk or drive to.

 

I.e. you would enter your drive from the tee box (Shot 1) as a shot. When you get to your ball you record the club and approach (shot 2). Repeat this process until you've holed out. The distance from GPS shot 1 to GPS shot 2 will be calculated as your yardage from the tee. Distance from recorded shot 2 to recorded shot 3 will be calculated as your yardage for the approach, and so on.

 

I personally really like the Grint. I wish I could get more people to use it, so we could use the 'Games' functionality. You can setup Medal, stableford, High/low, skins and niner and it will take care of the scoring. Live leaderboard also looks really cool, but something I haven't been able to utilize.

 

I haven't paid for the premium version either, so I cannot speak to that.

I’ve tried them both. I prefer neither. I use Golfshot and love it.

I use the Grint. I like the shot tracking ability; but many of them have this. Used Golfshot exclusively until this year. Reason I moved to the Grint is I can track or watch my friends rounds in real time.

I haven't used the Grint but I've been using golf logix for a number of years. I feel like over the last year it's been giving me lots of problems. I've had a few rounds where when I start the round it has already filled in all my scores for me and the holes were not correct compared to the score card. I updated the app and that problem seemed to get fixed. Now I'm running into issues where the GPS is not even close to being accurate so it's basically useless. I just updated the app again so we'll see if that solves my problem. I'm pretty sure I'll be moving onto a different score tracking/gps deal after this subscription ends.

I prefer The Grint, but I only use it for maintaining score and stats. If I forget my golf watch I'll use the GPS but that happens very rarely.

I've been using Golflogix for a couple of years find it easy to use. Recently it seems to glitch as the scores and the holes don't always line up Maybe I just need t reload it.

Does anyone remember the old nike golf app? It was just a pretty simple stat tracker. Is there anything out there close to that, free of charge?

When you are finding a course to play there is another tab for “favorites.” You can store 10 there.

The Grint keeps stats, I don’t use it for the GPS, I have another app for that. I just keep track on my scorecard of Fir/Gir with direction missed and number of putts then enter the info into the Grint when I get home, it only takes a few minutes to input scores but it keeps track of tons of stats for free and even more if you want to pay a little bit for it. I haven’t paid for the extra yet as the free stuff is plenty for now.
