Shape profile of Cleveland TA2 vs today's irons

any old farts out there remember the TA2's?

I love this iron in so many ways (Im playing them today in fact)

thin top line, longer heel to toe, square toe, thin sole and just forgiving enough for its era/shape. Also a PW that doesn't look like a shovel

 

I CANNOT find an iron today to replace it, mostly looks w use anyways

the S55's were damn close, except I HATED the shape of the PW...yes I could have bought a diff PW, but I like having a matching set PW

 

so.... what ya got for me?

I don't care about brand or age, I'm after a certain shape more than anything

Callaway Rogue Pro is pretty similar in size and shape........TA2's were a great iron

Best irons I've ever played! They were not the most forgiving irons, nor the softest or even the sexiest but they just flat out worked for me.

 

Funny enough, I also liked the TA2 PW enough to also bag the matching gap wedge. It had a D stamped on the sole if I'm not mistaking.

 

I have to disagree with the longish heel to toe though. Super compact imo.

 

A few Mizuno irons have similar profile indeed. The Srixon 7x5 models as well.

 

Too bad Adam golf has vanished cause they had definitely resolved the PW flow issue imo. The CMB's are older but from what I remember, they could fit the bill. Maybe even the MB2's. Best looking PW ever!

 

Another iron that comes to mind is the Nike vr pro or pro combo.

 

Now you make me wanna contact the guy that bought my TA2's (for $100!) See if they're not rusting away in his garage, hoping to be recued...
