I just put a c taper 130X in my 790 UDI 2 iron and I absolutely love it. Finally something I can keep low under the trees I am frequently in. Also it goes farther than my old SLDR hybrid with a graphite shaft when taking a full swipe. Its now close to the most versatile club I own; fairway finder off the tee, low punch recovery shots, par 5 second shots, and I can work it both directions a crazy amount. The confidence that it is not going to jump up too fast and hit that one branch is very freeing when trying to pull off a recovery.

I really like the kbs steel hybrid shaft I put in my x2hot pro 20*. 105 grams. I play it at 40" and it is loooong and piercing.

I thought so too, but I find it surprisingly hard to find on the ground.

And it's not even an iron :)

Like a lot of us I've been trying to find the perfect club to fill the gap between Fairway wood and 4 iron, it's a tough spot to fill. Last week I pulled the S400 shaft from my TMB 3 iron as I'd like to try something else in that head because it didn't turn out to be the club I was hoping it would be. So I decided to throw the S400 in a 19* 910H head I had laying around just for fun and to see how it would play and all I can say is Wow!! It's everything I thought the TMB 3 iron was going to be, I was shocked. It was firing the low, straight bullets I was hoping to find in the TMB head and if you tee it up a hair you can launch it to the moon and the ball just flies dead straight. Why did I wait so long to put a heavy steel shaft into a hybrid? I just wanted to share my findings for anyone struggling to fill this spot in the bag. Have a great day everyone :)

I literally just laughed out loud reading this, because before I read it, I was going to create a new thread about how I just put a DG s300 in my Titleist 910h that I had laying around, and it is now my go to "driving iron" on tight holes where driver isn't the smart play. By the way, mine is 21*, not 19*.

Couldn't believe how accurate it is and it gives me a nice baby draw that I can count on 99% of the time.

Anyways, just thought it was funny that you literally did the same thing; 1. Grabbed the old 910h head that has been laying around 2. Put a DG shaft in it 3. Put it straight in the bag.

Great minds think alike Sir!! That’s pretty cool that we both tried the exact same experiment at the same time with the same results :)

It’s actually making my want to try putting steel shafts in my 815 Bertha Driver/3 wood heads now, they’re just sitting there on the shelf not getting used as of now. I wonder how an S300/400 would work in them? Or would you have to go to X100 in a wood to get a similar feel to an S300 in an iron?

Not really sure aout what flex to go with, but me personally, I would go with x100 in driver.

It's funny you say that about your 815 driver/3 wood, because I have my 816 Alpha DBD driver and 3 woods also sitting downstairs collecting dust lol. As for me though, nothing can kick out my 910 D2 driver. That thing is a masterpiece. Really is one of the all time great drivers IMO.

Those 910 hybrids were great. I regret selling mine, especially the 21* I had with a really stiff Diamana Thump shaft. That NEVER went left. I still browse the second hand gold shop for the 910s, but not much luck so far.

Too bad, because a couple of months ago I believe I put my 910h on the BST for like $20 lol. Thankfully nobody wanted it, because it is now firmly in the bag since putting an s300 in it.

I agree though, its a great hybrid.

I always tell people steel shafted hybrids are awesome. When swinging the club it feels like a typical iron but once it makes contact the ball feels like it rockets off. I suppose for me it feels that way because I have moderate swing speed and long irons don’t feel like the jump. Hybrids with graphite lack feel.

For those looking to try steel. Hybrids have .370 parallel tips. Any steel parallel tipped shaft works.

Thanks for the inspiration brother! I threw a 20* Maltby KE4 hybrid head on a KBS Tour V shaft and I'm blown away by the result. I absolutely love it. I have a Hogan Ft. Worth Hi driving iron and this blows it out of the water. Spent all summer trying to find the perfect driving iron, never thought about this option. Thanks again!
