hmm. i actaully did say that the 10o and 17h greens needed to be rebuilt as a part of the project. Not sure what the response was? maybe that is part of the scope and i've forgotten

I base my take on personal opinions, but also on how I perceive the place, from an outside perspective. It doesn't seem to be a club centered around social status, and activities. It's a golf club. People gather there for golf. It's not a club where you have dinner with the wives, and discuss the $15k SAT improvement plan you just put junior on. That's not to say that there isn't wealth there - by all accounts, there's people with real money there. There seems to be a high percentage of golfers walking whenever I've been out there, who surely DGAF about the (as far as I can tell) perfectly serviceable cart paths being replaced. Basically, I perceive as the kind of place where D-measuring contests involve golf, rather than wealth and resumes. Allocate the funds you're dumping into the course accordingly.

With the late rush today (on the heels of Dagoose's imploration), and me realizing I had 3 people pay but not sign up, we're actually at 24. Nice turnout.

 

We need a better system for linking responses with payment so that you can't do one without doing the other. It's not clear -- within our system -- how to do this. We just cross-check entries in the spreadsheet with emails about who paid. At least the spreadsheet gets autofilled.

 

Turns out we might have had someone play the Club Championship "for free". LOL. Temporarily for free.

The registration "link" on the Hive site is not a link. The link to pay is a real link. I had paid first and then went back to find the registration link and ended up having to copy and paste it into my browser.

Gmen listed himself as 77 inches. You're listed as 75. Dagoose is 76.5.

 

Kent didn't list a height but I have him at 71.5 from years past, I think.

McDonald and Sons are currently doing the renovation work at the Naval Academy course which entails all new greens, new irrigation, re-working a lot of the bunkers and few hole redesigns. The course is closed from September this year till next Spring. It looks pretty good so far and you can see their work on Instagram under “usnagolf”

71 will be the split. I might need to ask guys for quarter inches. I think kent usually goes with 71.5, so I was sending him into the talls.

The architect working the USNA restoration (not a McDonald and Sons designer) was one of the people in the running to do the master plan at my FIL's club in CT.

 

He did Inverness, Oak Hill, and I believe he got the Congressional job after Keith Foster got popped for trading illegal goods.

Interesting read on Adam Scott switching up his driver last week. Played with Nick Watney in a practice round who was playing a 11.5* head and immediately after the round went and swapped out his 8.5* for an 11.5*. Pretty big change for a guy that seems to always be a pretty decent driver of the ball. Titlest rep was saying there are a few guys now playing heads in that 12* range but they are still absolutely outliers.
