Used Driver: Under $100 and Low Spin

I'm slowly getting myself back into the golf world... I have 2 young kids and limited funds and an angry wife... My current driver is a mostrosity I built a few years back (Adams 12LS with cotton in the head and a Matrix Black Tie shaft)... it has NO feel. I might try to get the cotton out and see if that improves things.... but I'm contemplating picking out a "new" used driver on the cheap. I have high launch and high spin...

 

What would you suggest for a used driver for under $100 with low spin and low launch that is easily found on eBay or the used club bin? Thanks!

Maybe take a look at the Wilson FG Tour F5. It got some pretty good reviews and can be picked up for well under $100 these days.

Second the Big Bertha Fusion, a couple of my buddies just picked one of these up on Callaway pre-owned. I highly recommend that site, they have a great return policy. The "good" quality in my experience would be perfectly fine if you want to get below that $100 mark.

SLDR is the obvious one. Jpx 850 is also silly low spinning and can be got cheap with a good shaft.

Fast12LS is a great feeling head. You most probably have too much cottonballs stuffed in there. Nothing an air compresser can't fix...

 

If the new driver bug bit, then SLDR and BC+ are solid options below $100. Other forgotten low/low gems would be Cleveland classic 310/290, Cobra fly Z+ or even BC pro if you can find one, Adams XTD driver, Mizuno JPX850... Although I would look for a Cobra King LTD to begin with. Forgiveness, feel and low/low in the same package.

 

You might wanna consiser pulling your Black tie and sticking it whatever head you go with. Much harder to find a deal on a combo <$100...

"An Angry wife" is probably unfair to her... A wife who will be angry if I spend $500 on a driver is a better description... I got the cotton out of the Fast12 LS, and I'm going to see how it does... Then I'm going to go shopping at the local store for a solid SLDR. I have cash in my wallet, so it's a victimless crime!

Yeah, I have various shafts kicking around in the garage... I like the SLDR back when it was released (played one round with it, crushed it on the front nine, and then got cute on the 11th trying to cut a corner and somehow pysched myself out and couldn't get back into a groove). I think I'm going to see what I can find at the local store... we shall see.

Anser, TM Superdeep, SLDR all come to mind right away. Another one would be Cleveland Custom XL or Cleveland Classic. Those things didn't mess around with lowering your spin!

Dumb question on this, do I just stick a hose into the back of the head and blast air? I took a paperclip and think I got the majority out, but wouldn't mind a second run to insure it was all out...

I'm also headed to Palm Springs in December... I might do some used shopping out there. Only problem out there is finding anything in a stiff shaft!
