Retired this week. Haven't played yet, it's the last day/week of February. So I'm 0 for 1. Somethin's gotta change... :dntknw:

Upside is in retirement my golf has been well under budget, bogey free so far, no three putts, haven't lost a ball yet, back feels great...

Sounds like you're a natural!

Regardless of age, welcome to the old geysers club!

You're gonna love it here.

Retired for the second time in 2007 and haven't looked back. Oh, I miss all those I've met along the way, I loved my job, it was great and accomplished much, but we all must move on, and that is into retirement.

I play 5-days a week, and never on Saturday. I volunteer at my course and with the state golf association. I seldom if ever have free time, if fact too busy at times.

Wife and I play together daily and we have played across the US and back 5 times taking approximately 50-days each trip. What I like the most about retirement is, and t takes awhile to catch on, is, it doesn't matter what day it is or what time it is. When I worked I got up every day at 06:30, now retired I'm usually up by 05:30. I haven't figured that one out yet. Stay as active as you can and as much as your health will permit.

Last year 1 lost 40 lbs and have shot my age twice from the middle tees. Until a recent bone spur in the heel, I walked every round and once it heals, I'll be back walking again. In May, I'll have my 74th birthday so maybe achieving that feat will be easier.

I play and participate in allot of golf activities, some of my friends fish, that's great too.

  • 4 weeks later...

Retired for 8 years now,and have been limited to a couple times a month, but this is the year

that I will be playing at least 4 times a week. Hopefully ! Three times a week will probably be where I end up. I was a believer in all the stories about how boring retirement would be,but I found myself

not having time to golf. Way too many projects I had put off until retirement. This year I intend

to play as often as my body will feel comfortable with.

Retired two years ago and play less now than I did while I was working. It helped that I worked for an OEM and we had a first class fitting/practice facility on site; practiced every day. Ha; didn't even play at all in 2018. I still enjoy playing when I decide to get out; I've already played twice this year.....LOL. The local golf association I belong to has a great senior group that plays three times per week so I can't use the excuse that there isn't anyone to play with.

Just too many other things I've gotten involved in that are time consuming and fun. Unfortunately I do not have unlimited discretionary income so I have to spread my dollars out wisely. Golf just isn't the priority it once was.

I'm Semi-Retired (can't decide to continue work or not), but I only manage getting on the course for Practice/Play 2x/week.

I have a BUNCH of hobbies and interests that keep me busy, so I only realistically see golfing 2x/week at the most. Part of my problem now is.....I had a previously very stressful job for about 10 years that kept me away from the golf course. Now that I'm rebuilding my swing, it's a complete disaster, with Sh**ks, Thins, tops, Chili Dips, and a host of other problems. Until I get this ironed out - I'm not sure I'll be playing (yet). Last time on the course was a disaster, I quit after 9 holes due to so many bad shots.

I can see where someone who’s corporate identity defined them, would find retirement overrated...especially those who were CEOs or high ranking executives with a great deal of power and prestige.

However, retirement for me has been a dream...I was lucky to work for a company that gave me an executive pension that nets out to what I was making while working. I get to sleep in, work out, golf, do things around the house and pickup my daughter from school every day (no more missed recitals or school events). I certainly don’t feel like my brain is turning to mush and I’m in the best physical shape of my life...and my HC has dropped to 11. So IME retirement is definitely not overrated.
