Winter jacket suggestions

Well, I can't resist a good sale. I'm in. And I just noticed the Pax sweater is on sale, which appears to be the same merino wool as the Knox hoodie.

My Navy Blue Norse II arrived today. Confirming it is the “real” version, not the zoned. I ordered the same size as my OG Norse (medium) and the fit is a bit looser on the II and the sleeves are a little longer. My OG is a perfect fit, the II is a little big and I think I can do a size Small.

 

not sure if I will exchange or not. The fit is loose enough that it may be a little too distracting to swing in with the extra material around the midsection. Need to test it out on the range.

Worst case, I wear the jacket outside of golf. For $40, it’s a great deal.

Yeah. I ordered, but haven't received, the Pax Sweater. I keep going back to look at it, hoping that they get more of the grey one in XXL, while the price is still so good.

When you test it out, don't forget that there is an elastic draw string to tighten it around the waist.

I am noticing it is loose in the chest and stomach area...where it droops down some (at address) if that makes sense. Not sure how distracting that will be during the golf swing.

Lol. Don't feel guilty. I found out the wholesale price that TGW paid per item for these from PING. It's very safe to say that even at these low retail prices, they still made a killing. More margin than most apparel, actually.

I thought the same thing when I got mine and considered getting a Velcro tab added to the sleeves to cinch them up. Then I played with it and despite the sleeves being both long and loose on me, it ended up being no bother to me on the course at all.

the sleeve opening is just a solid band with no adjust-ability options (buttons, velcro, pull cord, etc).. its wide so you just have to fold up or cuff or get tailored.

I just contacted TGW via online chat and they refunded me the difference between my purchase prices and what is currently available with the "Eagle" discount code. Even on the items they no longer had in my size or color. Super easy.

Yeah. Some of PING's jackets (especially the rain ones) have a velcro strip along the hem at the bottom of the sleeve, along with a velcro tab that allows the wearer to close the sleeve tight around the wrist, if they desire to do so.

This deal beats the Kjus and Sunice deals on Sierra trading post last year. If the Zoned Norse jacket is similar to the Sunice Hamilton jacket I’ll be more than happy. What a good thermal base layer probably all you need for golf going down into the 30s.

The bad part is that I live in the tropics. The lowest temperature of the year is maybe 75*.

Sizing comparison FYI - having had the chance to try on the items in my order the Norse ii zoned jacket, Norse ii vest and rain pullover, which are all large, fit great. The Elden and Herman pullovers, also larges, are too big. I am assuming the Pax and Knox i ordered in large will also be too big,, but the Norse ii jacket will be fine, but I'll find out. I've ordered mediums in the Truman and Herman pullovers as replacements.

I agree with your assessment of the size of the Herman. Mine is large one too. But, I disagree with your assessment of the Elden. The XXL Elden is much smaller than the XXL Herman is.

Haha, i purchased a good amount too, though not as much as you. I’m sure most have. I’ll check back in with fit based off my size when they arrive. I ordered all larges, I’m 6’4-190 and got the Elden, Norse II, Knox and Breaker.

Just got my snorke blue in XL, too big. Should have went with my gut instead of the chart...Oh well. I started an exchange to see if they can send me a large (only thing that's available now). If not, I assume I'll just get a refund. I can't even pre buy it since the price has gone up. Love the jacket though, just wish it fit the first time. If I didn't love it, I wouldn't have decided to go through the hassle of an exchange.

Received mine today for those of you that want pics in my opinion the snorkel blue looks lighter in pics it’s def a darker shade of blue I would say duke blue or the same blue as the ping blue dot. Fits great and feels like it’s going to be really warm what a deal.

If it’s the fully insulated one let me know if you don’t want to keep it. They were out of smalls when I ordered so I went with medium. It’s a bit big but I’ll probably keep it unless I get my hands on a small.

Correct the fully insulated one is listed under zoned.

Are you 100% sure on that? Can guys who received their Norses confirm whether they received Zoned or Fully Insulated, and whether the price was $39 or $89?
I ordered the $39 but if that is truly the Zoned, I'll order the $89 also.
I am confused because @portland says above he received fully insulated for $39.
