What Does Callaway Have In Store For 2019?

Recommended Posts

Apex Pro sound like a bust for what I am looking for. Seems like my decision in late January will not be including the Apex Pro :/.

I got to hit them a couple days ago. I know the first reaction is to shy away from them, but man the sound and feel is not much different than my current X-Forged 18. However, I gained a few yards without sacrificing any spin. I think if people take a few swings with this club they'll be reaching for their credit cards. I wouldn't count them out without trying them first.

Thanks for sharing - that is what I am particularly interested in, if the new Apex Pro is markedly different in any way compared to the 2018 X-Forged. I really got along well with those over the past year, but curious about a head to head comparison, certainly.

New Apex Pros look and shape are basically 2018 X Forged shape with 2016 Apex Pro looks. If CF feels same as before I will be going with X Forged

I completely disagree. Setting them side by side the shapes are definitely different. The only similarity to the 16 Apex Pros is the shiny chrome finish instead of the brushed finish of XF. I wish I had taken pics but my rep didn't want me to.

Yeah they look like a slimmed down X Forged. Not as large of a cut out cavity in the back but similar shape as the x forged. and they are chrome with the spider web looking design on it . Hence they look like a X Forged/Apex Pro baby

I hope the Mickelson 2.0 comes in a copper coloured finish and in a 62* option

So many 64's being made but nobody wants to own 62 (Cleveland has one) .. seems strange with so many top end guys going 53/59 or 52/58

I’m probably going to get the 64 and bend it to 62.

Makes bounce angle slightly less

I believe it will be offered in black and or chrome/satin. No 62* from what I been told as well.

I heard epic flash irons also.

And theyll sell just as bad as the green/black epic irons.

Pretty sure decreasing loft raises bounce.

I think it's the other way around.

Saw the Flash SZ in hand over the weekend and can confirm that it's absolutely gorgeous. The green and yellow doesn't really stand out as much as in the pictures and the black chrome sole is a very nice touch. The crown is a matte crown and head shape are both really nice. Much more compact and pear shaped than the stretched back Cally's of late.

Don't know about release, but the Odyssey Toulon models that I saw had the milling pattern across the whole face instead of just in the center. Looked fantastic.

I should be getting a look and test drive on most if not all of the 2019 Callaway range this Friday.

Flash SubZero Driver: Agree with others that the shape is quite similar to the FT-Tour. For those that dislike the shape of Rogue and Epic SZ, this will win over most. Sound isn't the quietest ever, but I certainly wouldn't describe it as tinny or annoying in any way. The Tensei AV blue has a very smooth feel through swing and impact similar to shafts that will cost much more. There is a big difference between the SZ and standard Flash at address with the standard looking much longer from front to back and shallower in the face. The impact feel in the standard was also just a tad more hollow, but not a huge deal.

It definitely isn't the quietest. It's actually (to me) quite loud, now that I've gotten to play with it a few times. Not a sound I think I can get used to, in fact. I don't think I'll be able to play this driver. Sound is key to me.

Sean Toulon basically said on the podcast with Tursky and Knud that the negativity around here is awful

Awful is using the term “garage” which really means expensive paintfill and very limited custom options.

Not sure what he’s complaining about, Toulon gets more love than most of the putter makers who don’t have a big company like Callaway backing them.

From Morgan Pressel's Instagram. Not very clear but you get the idea.

Nice catch! I think those look pretty nice from that view.

I am guessing his reference is to the reaction every time Odyssey has a new release, and it is a lot of negativity.

Hit my new SZ outside for the first time today. With the weight in the middle the sound is unbearably loud! But to either side it changes completely. Luckily i like the weight out to the toe so the sound of it is just fine
