What Does Callaway Have In Store For 2019?

Recommended Posts

Callaway isn’t going to bring a 430 head to retail. You can take that to the bank.

That is what common sense tells me. But, my inner voice keeps telling me to hold out hope.

Must be a new ball coming, looking for testers at Callaway.com

There is a new ball being released. We've mentioned it in this thread (I think, seems there are at least a couple of 2019 Callaway threads going) that a new urethane ball positioned below the ChromeSoft is coming, targeting the AVX customer.

Held the whole line in hand today. Driver and woods look great, better in person. What stood out to me was the driver looks really balanced.

What really got me excited was the Apex irons line. They are smaller and more compact than the prior Apex and Apex Pro. Also less offset. The Apex have the new DG elevate 95 and the Apex Pro have the DG elevate tour which I believe are 120 gram. Absolutely love the blade length I am talking Titleist CB 718 or Cobra King Pro CB small in both irons. Very impressed!!

OMG! I’m so pumped! Less offset and smaller blade length. I’m all in!!

Those pm grind pics must be a raw tour setup. Or a great photographer. Look much more expensive in pics there than the one I held. Someone who’s on twitter ask if they are raw or not.

This has me very intrigued! Was thinking combo set but may go straight Apex all the way w/C-Taper and be done.

Exactly what I am thinking since I prefer the satin look. The only thing is I only saw a 7 iron so I am hoping they don't put a ton of offset in the long irons but they definitely nailed the size IMO. Can't wait!

Just saw this on Twitter. PM Grind 54/14

Sorry can't post the pic at the moment. On mobile.

Gotcha

Looks like circular milling but no micro grooves like the MD4

LOL, for Scott McNeely...Sigh. Like THAT guy(the Bill Gates of microchips) needs a freebie! But I guess since your son is on staff with them, they throw in those perks too.

Is that Rock’s first full ball for them?

So it’s not a new MB, correct?

My understanding is that the 430 cc head will be sold retail. We'll see...

I guess it's a possibility, but it's not a club that the reps themselves know about, or are showing for release with the rest of the lineup for us buyers to stock or preorder.

Knowing Cally, the 430 version will be a unicorn tour only.

I'm hearing: 2019 Apex and Apex Pro refresh, Epic Wood refresh, and PM Grind 2.0

Anyone hearing anything else?

This is spot on. just played with a bud that does some photo work for Callaway. Saw and hit the apex forged irons which look super similar to X's protos. The Epic Flash driver. its great, except this bizarre graphic line across the crown (think the seam line from the fusion woods). PM wedge looks pretty much the same as the original. Plus a few new Toulon models with the odyssey logos.

Does anyone know if new Epic flash fairway woods sit neutral. Last years subzero was too low spin and the normal model was closed.

Pair subzero with a higher spin/launch shaft easy fix. I got a diamana B in mine, perfect spin numbers

I tried a Tensei Pro White 70 in it, no bueno. I have the same shaft in a m2 tour 3HL and it works pretty good. Perhaps the tensei pro blue 70 would be a good option :)

Yeah common dude you’ve got a notoriously low/low shaft in it. Blue would have been way better.

With fairways if it fits your eye, lie angle face angle and feels good that’s all that matters. Spin can easily be addressed through shaft and even slightly adjusted with some hot melt placement in the back

Don’t give up on the sub zero it’s a beast

I was actually hoping the standard version would be the same blade size but just less offset. I don't need even shorter blades. Callaway already has plenty of other offerings that cater to those who want even smaller heads. The CF16 standard version already had a more squat head...really don't want it any smaller.

I'm hoping Callaway bring out a new adapter or at least one with fade options. I loved Callaways FT range with fade options but since the adjustable adapter came in they are just FORE LEFT for me... unless i have a big forward press at address.

They have a flatter version of the adapter. Can't remember what color the dot on it is. Of course, it isn't available at retail. But if you have a great you like and want it to play flatter, you can look into picking one up.

Couple more pics found on IG

The shiny burns the Precious.

Such a let down.

Agreed. It may have been passable had they not switched the white for grey on the insert too. The white makes them look cheap, which was a big turn off on the Rogue pro too for some.

Whatever happened to making clubs nice looking as well as functional? The last Apex were so good looking.

Really considering a combo set of 8-PW MB and 4-7 new apex pro. Hopefully they offer the $ taper in an S+ flex

Should pair well... I ordered the 8-PW in the MB last year after bouncing back and forth between the Apex Pro and regular Apex sets. I didn’t think they paired wel with the X Forged (though Phil does it). I’ll be testing the new Apex and Pro to potentially fill the 5-7 Iron spots.

What insert? Are you talking putters or irons? I don’t see any white on this club.
