Patrick Reed and the baseball seats

Although the part that I presumed, that the Tour players were comped with some nice free seats and Reed wanted to upgrade, seems to be correct.

Yes, that part is correct. He had seats...probably very good ones...but NOT with the tour players. He paid to change seats (upgrade?), and ended up with the tour players.

Got it. So the issue was that the comp'ed seats for the Tour players were scattered, or at least divided, in different parts of Fenway. They were not all together. If P. Reed was given lesser seats, it is because that is the way that the Tour distributed the tickets on the way to, or at, the ballpark. So Reed pays $650 to upgrade, and finds himself in seats which are simply right in front of some of the other Tour players, who had the better seats to begin with. (Leaving P. Reed to wonder, why couldn't he have those seats from the start.)

Phew!

Now, about sending out that news to the wider world via a Twitter account...

There are also so many unknowns, for example:

1. Did Reed RSVP late and they had to scramble to find some extras which explains the different location.

2. Perhaps it was a limit of 2 per player...the third person created a problem so they had to find more tickets.

3. It was a random draw...Reed drew the short stick!

Many other explanations.

The big question is will the next sports team avoid inviting Reed altogether, or give him great seats for the PR...no pun intended.

PS. Not surprising that the Knicks gave PR courtside tickets after winning the Masters...after all, I'm sure James Dolan and PR get along splendidly.

Not trying to stir s***, but Fenway has red seats in the lower level around the infield (aka "Line Drive" Section). And of course Green seats on top of the monster. Justine's clothes and hat say 2016 Ryder cup could this be an old photo even?

You're right, it looks like he was behind home plate up next to the EMC box.

That's pretty funny that the Red Sox have something called the EMC box. For most, EMC is a bad memory of losing it all in the tech wreck.

The guy plays practice rounds by himself and thinks he should have tickets with "the guys" at a Red Sox game? They sat him where he belonged... by himself. I might have sided with him if he bought some Red Sox gear.

Love that guy so much.

Yeah, til you invite him over for BBQ and PR like,

The steaks a little tough, Vindog, got any swordfish?

Haha!, VinDieselDog! I like PR too.

But, then again, I like everybody ; )

He just simply does not give a flip. It’s very liberating.

Rickie would never do something like this.

Rickie would also have gotten better seats.

I like Reed and don't think he is the villain everyone wants him to be, but this makes him look Poulterish.

Poulterish - not a desirable trait (unless it’s the RC)

WHO CARES! The next time I pass judgement on Patrick Reed, it will be related to something he does on the golf course. His personal life is none of my business and even less my concern.

Social media is turning the modern world into a flaming pile of garbage.

\

Absolutely!!! It was so much better before modern agriculture and medicine screwed everything up. Give me a good old fashioned plague/famine combo over this Twitter bullsh_t any day.

Heck yeah! Imagine if we released the plague every year on the population. There wouldn't be any traffic ever!

Nothing surprising here. Patrick Reed has a lot of talent, but very little in terms of class or manners. Even most children by a certain age know it's not acceptable to complain about a gift that you're given. I would argue that this most definitely applies to a grown man being given what amounts to a gift (free tickets to a Red Sox game). If you don't like the tickets, don't accept them, or don't go to the game. If you really do want to attend the event and choose to purchase your own tickets (like 99% of the normal population does if they want to see a baseball game), don't complain about it, and certainly not on social media.

For those who are defending Patrick Reed, would you defend me if my neighbour brought me over some cookies, and I proceeded to pop on Twitter to let everyone know how crappy the cookies. Additionally, I had to drive down to the bakery and buy some cookies using my own money. After all, she really made me want cookies by offering me some free ones, but they sucked (and by sucked I mean that most people think they're delicious, as most people would be thrilled to have had those tickets to the Red Sox game)! I'm pretty sure you would all say I'm a jerk, and no one would be using the "He just says what he wants and doesn't care what people think. It's refreshing." argument.

So, everyone in this thread is okay with favoritism and treating people unequally?

Which favoritism/inequality are we talking about here? That between PR and the rest of the Tour players, or the Tour players and the rest of the patrons?

Clearly PR vs the rest of Tour players.

Listen, if my manager at work gave every employee a $20 gift card to Starbucks, but handed me a $5 gift card to Dunkin Donuts, damn right I'm going to be pissed and say something about it.

I feel like I'm on crazy pills with how illogical and nonsensical this thread is. You guys' blind hatred for Reed is absolutely bonkers.

Ahhhh....Entitled.

The almost-preposterously weird thing to me is that Reed seems to have so badly wanted "upgrade" seats when in fact it was a sort of a group night out at the ballpark, right? The Tour had a block of tickets for the players, gratis. And if they were blue seats as indicated in Reed's Tweet-pic, well...

Many of you must have done the same, with groups of your own. I cannot tell you, how many Detroit Tigers games I have been to at Comerica Park as part of a legal group, a bar association, a court reporting service's "thank you" night, or one of my alumni association (law school and undergrad) groups. And they get a big block of tickets, and reserve a space way out in right field for food and mixing. To go to something like that, and then ask for upgraded seats somewhere else is just the weirdest thing.

That isn't what happened. He upgraded out of the foul-line area into area where the PGA players were sitting.

This is his followup tweet: "we paid $650 to upgrade and ended up with everyone else on the @PGATOUR #shocker"

But why is he putting it on social media?
