Wood for off the Tee

I have a Ping G driver that I hit pretty well on nice open fairways (Carry 240-255), however if the fairways are tight I don't have a ton of confidence and tend to put myself just out of play. I have a Titleist 917 F2 16.5 that I max out around 205-210 off the tee and I can hit it pretty straight and with confidence.

 

I am looking for something along the same lines that can keep me in the 230-240 yard range. I am looking for a deeper faced 3 wood that will allow me to do this. What are your recommendations on a 3 strictly for use off the tee? Doesn't need to be the newest, fanciest tech. I was considering another 917 F2 in a lower degree, however I feel I could get a deeper face since it will be for tee only shots.

May want to look at the Cobra LTD 3-4 wood. It has a pretty deep profile and is a rocket.

Strictly off the tee it's hard to beat the Ping G/G400 stretch in 13*. Deep face and forgiving. My stretch is only about 15 yards shorter then my G400 max. It's not ideal for off the fairway though and I've been throwing around the idea of playing a F8 3-4 wood cranked up to 16* with shorter shaft for the long fairway shots.

I recently started using a Titleist 910FD 15° for exclusive use off the tee and it's been great so far for me. They also made a 913 and 915 FD

 

Also the Ping Stretch is designed for exactly what you are asking for. I thought they were great, but pretty much sound like an aluminum bat.

Tour edge cbx or ex10 or ex10 beta. Absolute cannons. One of the ex10's has a deeper face. Forget which one it is.

Ive thought about the mini drivers as well, but they are non existent in the new market which leads me to believe they where not all that good.

I would do the G400 fairway wood. I have the G400 5W I prefer to hit over my driver.

I have a 917 f2 18 set to +1.5 and use the X2 Hot 17 off the tee. You might want to try the 3 wood, they are great off the tee.

If you can find one, the Cobra Long Tom 2 wood is a great choice for off the tee. Think it was released in 2012.

After playing the 3Deep for a while, I settled on a mini driver. I have a 16 degree TM Aeroburner. They're fairly cheap and plentiful in the used market.

 

The mini driver phase may have faded because it's not really a driver replacement. However, it's a heck of a good alternative to a deep face 3 wood for a player who doesn't plan to hit it off the fairway.

I use an SLDR Tour Spoon and of the tee it has worked out great. I use it on short par 4's or Par 4/5's in which accuracy is more important than distance. I am averaging about 250 yds total with it and it wont be leaving my bag anytime soon.

If you can find a Ping Rapture mini driver, it can be a wonderful tee club to get your almost as far as a driver, and straight. In my experience.

I have an old Cleveland DST oversize 3 wood.

It's not always in the bag, but it will never be sold.

When things go wrong, it comes out and straightens my game.
