I’d rather go into Ryder Cup battle with a couple more Webb Simpsons and a few Zach Johnsons than Tiger and Phil, but you those pesky TV ratings.....

On the right courses where accuracy is paramount guys like Kisner/Zach/Webb etc are key.

I learned the hard way. The bombers work on the American style tour stops but this was a different breed of golf and it was awesome to watch.

man he played well.......but at times looks like a club pro.

Yeah people here get defensive if you say he has an ugly swing. It’s ok to say that.

Aesthetically I think he’s got the quirkiest move in golf and I don’t know how he’s so good. The fact he hits one shank every tournament boggles my mind.

But he’s a grinder and I’m becoming a big fan.

I said it going in and I’ll say it again, Webb was one of the strongest players on the US team. He is rock solid and Le National is a course he can play. The fact that he didn’t get to play his own ball until Sunday was insane. It’s not like Furyk was riding hot pairings that he couldn’t leave out either. And not only that, he was handcuffed to Bubba, an all time bad Ryder Cupper, the entire time. Furyk made some iffy decisions, but not playing Webb in 4ball was a mistake that can’t be questioned.

*i posted this before I knew the thread was some weekend hack critiquing a US Open and Players champ.

Pleased for Webb to have had a decent Cup.

The guy doesn't do an awful lot wrong, in fact he seems to do most things right, the only thing he lacks is an X-Factor.

I really liked Webb until I found out he uses a club brush to clean his clubs, man the nerve on that guy! Doesn't he know when you're a good player, you can only have your clubs cleaned by a caddy with a towel?

All joking aside, I wouldn't have picked Webb to be one of the few bright spots on the team this year but he played great!

My favorite golfer, for the simple fact that as a fellow shank afflicted patient of many years, I love anybody that can hear that dreaded hosel-thud and have the guts to stand over that next iron shot, take a look at the crowd lining the right side and not just WD on the spot. For me, they are like the old Lays potato chip ad, bet you can't have just one. I have seen him hit a few on live tv and immediately call to cancel MY next tee time.

Good guy, pure class and great game, funky swing and all.
