Dallas Young Executive Membership

Recommended Posts

Hey WRX!

I recently moved to Dallas, young professional, <5 HC, looking to join a club. Concerned mainly about being able to get a game most weekends, and be able to practice and putt in the evenings. I don't have kids, nor am I married so the other perks (save perhaps a gym) are not that important to me. Would love to find a true golf club, not necessarily a country club.

I am living in the Knox Henderson area and am hoping to find a club within 20/30 or so minutes from me. Seems to be a lot of great options north of town or closer to Ft. Worth, but I have not had a lot of luck finding options near me.

I have looked at older posts related to this topic and the consensus (at least around 2015) seemed to be Dallas Athletic Club.

My question - are there other clubs to consider besides DAC? Has the ClubCorp offering improved? Apologies if this has already been answered but do Lakewood/Northwood offer a young executive membership?

Appreciate the input!

If you are under 35, DAC will be ~10K, the full initiation is around 20. Both courses, range, and short game areas are nearing the end of some construction/facelift that should be done in October. Lakewood is about 60K and their junior membership allows you to pay the 60K out over a few years. Also get bumped in front of the waiting list as a junior (if they have a waiting list). Cramped range. North wood recently completed a large renovation, I think they have probably changed their initiation fee - Probably looking at 80K. Haven’t played since before the 18 Mo shutdown. DCC is a tight parkland course that is a membership more focused on networking, 150k. Well conditioned, awesome clubhouse. Brook hollow runs about 100 with a junior deal that gets you access during the week and I think you pay up over time. Good tillinghast design but location is sketch.

I think the closest clubcorp offering is Brookhaven to you. Pretty low cost and probably minimal initiation (often waived). I think there may be slight difficulty getting AM weekend tee times, I have played many times but primarily weekdays. If you are looking at the best golf club and are in East Dallas it’s tough to recommend anything but DAC.

Good advise on the courses, all are more expensive as of the past few years however with Northwood now cresting to $125K. D'Nat is $190K and will allow payment over 3 years. Brookhollow is closer to $150K now but probably the easiest (if that is possible) of the courses listed to get into these days, even Lakewood has a waiting list as the Lakewood/M Streets area is quite popular. DCC, you are spot on about, but without the right connections you'll be on a 7 year wait list for the rest of your life. I'd probably add Royal Oaks into the consideration, it's only 10 minutes north of Knox Henderson, always in top notch shape and is pretty challenging.

Might be a little far but Old American up in The Colony is only $3,500 initiation and $500 a month for unlimited golf and range.

I need to move.

Are those full sticker or junior initiation fees? At least to the best of your knowledge...

I have friends who either head the membership committees or previously did at each. Those are the non junior member rates. I don’t know the pre-35/40 rates.

Hello, I found this thread though doing some research. I find myself in a very similar situation as you did.

Graduating UT Austin, moving to Dallas for my full time job with one of the big banks doing software engineering.

7HC, looking for a good track I can play on the weekends, and practice at during the weeks. Going to be living in Lower Greenville, and working up in Plano at the HQ.

Would love to hear what you ended up deciding and how it’s been.
