Fedex man dropped off my M5 driver today. In all honesty, I only picked one of these up b/c of the trade in bonus and I had a bunch of stuff laying around...I haven't really liked any of the recent TM offerings. Anyway, took it straight to the range. THIS THING IS GOING STRAIGHT INTO THE BAG!

I ordered a 9* with the 60g Smoke shaft, really solid combo. High flat bombs from all over the clubface. This club is not super punishing on mishits at all. I was all over the clubface today and nothing I hit would have been out of play on the course. Toe side mishits still got relatively high and still got out there quite a bit. Heel strikes came out a bit lower but were still relatively hot. Center strikes felt awesome and had a couple of holy sh!t moments.

I am a fan of the sound and feel of composite clubs, so this thing was right up my alley. If you are not, you may not enjoy this stick. I has a very muted thwack.

I also tried it with an Atmos Black 6 and a AD GP7 I had lying around but neither had a better ballflight than the Smoke.

I'm real stoked for a club that I really didn't expect to like.

I was the same way. I’m usually not a huge fan of TM drivers but went for one of their demo days. Really ended up liking the M5 and had no previous interest in it before hitting it.

M5 tour or m6? What’s everyone’s thoughts

I went M6. Previous TM Tour heads (SLDR 430 and M1 440) don’t spin it enough for me.

M5 tour or m6? What’s everyone’s thoughts

They are completely different clubs, each falling on opposite ends of the lineup. If you need to cut spin and are looking to get every possible ounce of ball speed, M5 Tour is the thing to try. If you want a point and shoot driver, try the M6.

I went with the regular M5. When I tested the M5 Tour, I did not see any appreciable performance gains over the M5 so I went with the club that a little more forgiveness.

I think the M6 is going to be the club most people go with if they demo all three heads.

I'm pretty excited with what I've seen out of the M5 driver in the last couple of weeks. Without getting some more Trackman time in its hard to make a strict comparison with the M3 but I feel like a few of the great drives I've hit on the range have been those ones that look like moonshots - but they just keep on carrying. Our club has a relatively small range and I hit a few to spots where I normally do not hit the ball during the summer. And I'm talking about hitting range balls in 45* weather too.

I have some Trackman time coming up on Thursday so I will be able to do a better comparison, I am really interested to see some summary numbers. If my SS has increased I am guessing its because the stock length is longer than the M3 but thats just speculation. FWIW I have the AD-DI6x on the M3 now and the Pro Orange 60TX on the M5.

I did not go with a new 3W because I like the M4 so much.

for those of you that got an M5, does your grip look weird? The MCC that came on mine has weird lines on the bottom of the grip where the logo typically is.

That's expected. It's a special colorway for this launch and not a stock Golf Pride configuration.

Why do they need it? It's my information, you only get it if you have permission, so it's silly to ask. All they do is log it and use it for things I'd rather have them not. To each his own. Maybe you should share all your personal information here for everyone?

I was stuck between 2 shafts when I ordered my M5 15*. The Pro 2.0 TS 8X and the Proforce V2 8F5. I went with the V2 since it’s a low/mid flight with low spin. The pro 2.0 TS is closer to low/low.

I definitely will. I’ve flirted with the idea of trying to get my hands on a EF HC black 85 6.5 to try.

The nice thing about the V2 is that the 8F5 recommended tipping is 1” for 3w and the torque is 1.9

Tested the M5 9.0 and 10.5 today.

With my swing speed (96 to 99) and path type the M5 9.0 and th e V2 force gave me 255 to 265 total yards at 2200 spin and 13 to 14 launch angle.

This gave me a lower launch but longer carry.

Nice muted and sold feel swing similar to the R15 I swing now that I do not have with a callaway driver I have.

The $549 price stopped me today.

so for m5/m6 line, Tmag does not tip 0.5" as they have done before. Is that right?

I just ordered one more at 0.5" tip, doesn't want it to be 0.5" + 0.5" they regularly do.

Taylor made told me all woods are tipped a half inch as standard. Said from driver to 9 wood....half inch. So any additional tipping is added on to that.

Also they cant really do much for swingweight, they try to hit the standard swingweight if they can but their heads are not really set up to get precise swingweights...

Over the years, their tip trim standard has been anecdotally confirmed to be 1" as the default. It sounds like that's up in the air now. Some say they tip according to manufacturer specification for the shaft you selected, others have said it's 0.5" standard for driver. Bottom line: it's a mess.

Always order via the Custom Shop on their site. Always go as far "soft" as you can go on the tip trim selection and then add back the tip trim you actually want. That's the only way to feel reasonably confident that you know what you're getting.

I'm pretty sure their standard tip trim is 1". The custom shop options allow you to tip trim a -1", so that would indicate (to me) that the default is a 1" tip trim.

I asked like 3 times and it was half inch for everything. Triple checked it with them. Because their custom order site is so confusing. Says tipping = standard then you can + or -. Doesnt tell you what standard is. That is why I called and they said ......half inch for everything.....

I spoke with them today and they now follow the shaft manufacturers tipping recommendations. They no longer automatically tip everything 1”
