Taylormade M5 & M6 Woods - Pics added page 46

I think

From all the talks I've had with TaylorMade and other industry people, what it appears TM has done is weed out all the heads that fall below/well below 239, since (again, from what I've been told) manufacturing tolerances produce many heads that are well under even the 239 mark, which these are distributed to retail (pros aren't going to play heads under 239, especially well under). So TaylorMade has done things to insure that customers get a head that's much closer to or at 239, and maybe over, if you're lucky, since some can be over that mark (just not all).

Thank you for the insight on this, really great info!

Agree that the real marketing should have been "nobody should get a dud" :D

This has me thinking, is the TM proprietary algorithm that calculates how much resin should be added behind the face broken if it still can produce heads under the 239-257 goal? Would love to see someone CT test the patch of drivers arriving to retail! I would be ready pay a little extra for a really hot faced driver.

What I am also thinking should buyers, if given the possibility to hit multiple heads, choose the one that has a louder sound (less rezin) or the more muted one (speedports full of that white stuff)? Or does it even have an effect on the sound?

I remember peoples clubs selling tour drivers with sticker on them back in 2017 still, but from 2018 I have not seen them give info on the heads anymore, has TM banned retailers from showing the info to consumers?

LOL...good one, I must have gotten a 255 super fast face as my F9 is the longest driver I've ever hit.

I tried to love the for. Hit it with the same shaft as my my will have ad gp7x. I could not hit the club straight. Not 1 ball. I don't know what the hell happened but it was strange. Was like a huge banana ball.

So, all this sticker talk aside, how's everybody liking their M5/M6 woods and M6 hybrids?

My M6 driver, M6 3 wood and M4 hybrid are being build and should be in hand next week!

I put the M5 into play. It is the best driver, I have hit since the original M1. IMO, it is the best "M" series TM driver put out to market.

I like my m5. I've played a couple rounds with it. I still have my LST. But I enjoy playing the m5. I love the look, which inspires confidence, I feel like I can aim it. The sound is great, and it has been consistent. I think drivers are so close now, pick one you feel like you can swing well and like to play. The top driver on the robot may sound and look like crap, and when I get that in my hands, I will not enjoy playing the game with it.

The perhaps, not so subtle hint, was that obsessing over 237, 245, 245, whatever is pointless with a retail head. If you want or need that kind of precise spec, pony up the pesos and buy a Tour Issue head that has been spec'd.

Stopped back in to say that the M6 KK XTS combo that I found is magic. Likely due to swing change with driver , added loft and my love for this shaft . But maybe the m6 gets a little credit. Lol.

Anyway. To wet to play yesterday and today but I’ve got a lot of practice in and I just love it. Launches into a window I haven’t been able to see and does so without raising spin . Which is huge for me. Something about this shaft seems to kick the face square at impact too. My miss has gone to being just off the fairway instead of in the trees. Last time out was 9 holes and went 4 for 4 fairways hit and long.

Told someone yesterday that it’s like my 3 wood of nearly 3 years now. It just swings itself. Hard thing to find in my opinion.

Are we thinking about this wrong? On the flip side of the argument, how many retail heads are now at 239, that before would've been much lower before?

Yes, this is exactly the point of the new construction process.

2 rounds in and loving the M5 driver. the one thing that’s really noticeable with the M5 is how forgiving it is. I dunno if it’s the twist face but I’ve only missed 7 fairways in 2 rounds and only 1 where I had to kick it back in play. I had the G400 LST for a month and 2 rounds in the M5 is as long and more forgiving.

So far I’ve been enjoying the m5 driver paired with tensei white pro. A better ball flight for me than the m3, as I had to use the 440 head last year to fit the trajectory window I was looking for, but this year the 460 seems so consistent that I don’t have interest in the 435 head.

Regarding m5 fw, I was hesitant at first because I’ve traditionally played the 3HL variants of TM woods, with the RBZ Stg2 tour being my favorite. Happy to report the 15 degree m5 launches high enough for me to feel comfortable, almost as high as last years m3 3HL.

My mission is to find the right weight setting to give the sound/feel I am looking for. (Not a huge believer of how much weights change ballflight unless it’s a drastic change).

I’m still reading on the shafts myself. First KK I ever hit.

Pulled grip to change it and has XTS 70 under grip. Which is also odd as most I’ve seen pics of have xt70 or xd70 or xts70 etched on the shaft below the retail graphics.

It’s a silver Tini dual core graphics. ( paint job) Got it with the driver head from a tour player I know. He’s hitting the m5. So his m6 demos were fair game. Just dumb luck that I seem to fit into it. But beggars cannot be choosers. I’d give them a try. I like the fee of the kick at impact. The synergy black I was hitting doesn’t have that. The synergy blue does somewhat. But not the same. Synergy blue is a perfect 4-5 wood shaft. ( off topic I know ).

What shaft did you go with?

Hzrdus black 75 6.5. Lowest stock shaft I think. It's a beefy shaft. I use a midsize grip, and I know the black builds heavier, it's not counterbalanced....came out perfect at d4. Tm doesnt really swingweight. I hit it into a net so far. I Want to see the flight but it feels fantastic just like it's big brother rocket m6 and Uncle m5 driver... I will go find a heated range tomorrow...it is small compared to the 3w. I am kind of looking for a good fairway shaft, but that is hard to do in the m6. Looking at diamana ltd white 80, Px black, tensei white 80tx, t1100 75....any others? I just need to pick up a tensei to try...have the others and need a test head...

Just ordered the M6 with the Hzrdus Smoke Xstiff shaft thing. The M6 feels so much more solid and sounds much better than my ‘17 M2. Was able to launch it a little higher with the M6 and it was a bit more consistent.

I’m not loyal to any particular brand, for me it’s about what works the best. I hit the F9, TST, G410, M5, put some new different shafts in my current M2, and the Epic Flash or whatever it is... hit multiple shafts in each head... the M6 was by far and away the winner for me. The thing is stupid long for me.
