All this talk about price makes me glad I get the military discount from TM and PXG. Brings the price to a reasonable number.

Do you have to be active military or does a Vietnam vet qualify?

Any vet qualifies. I've been out for about 10 years now. If you still have your DD-214 or whatever else id.me is asking for to verify your service, you're good. They have a lot of other discounts from other companies too.

http://id.me

Both TM and PXG use them.

As a vet, I have used this with TM several times.

Love TM because they suppprt Vets.

I was happy when I saw they had a discount for vets. As a junior golfer, I get 40% off. Always thought the vet discount should be more comparable. From a business standpoint I understand why not - not every junior can get that discount; I got mine from playing in a TM sponsored tournament.

Me too. It's enough to kill the upcharge for some shafts and definitely keeps me coming back. Helps that I get along with their clubs more often than not.

I can’t wait for demo days. I’m a TwistFace fan. It helps my toe hook to be a toe draw or even a toe fade. More speed on those toe hits with a gentle fade would be fantastic.

TwistFace in fairways is also interesting.

Would be interesting to have a technical explanation from TM about how this structural piece (green) and resin actually works.

To me it appears to only be supportive of the lower part of the face....what about the flexture of the top portion?

Perhaps it has to do with the face design and where the face flexes the most.

Very interesting.

Also interesting that each production driver will be tested for CT(COR) to provide max allowed CT...no other oem can say that.

Very nice looking driver with excellent design components....top of my list.

I’m usually whatever on the marketing stuff but in one of the TM ads it shows the resin being injected into the face and the face lights up, making it seem like the resin is making the face hotter when it’s the opposite.

That is why people automatically assume all the tech lingo is marketing BS (which I know most of it is).

So if Tour pros got hand picked drivers for years that were CT tested to be right at the limit, then DJ and Rory shouldn't seeing better numbers because the M5/6 just gives us average dudes the ability to be right near the CT limit. Sucks for them!

Correct. They won't see as much as someone who's retail driver was more in the middle of the distribution curve. But it was explained to us that even the drivers hand picked for the tour had a small distribution of acceptable scores, so the heads they'll get going forward will all be more consistent than it was previously. But you're right that they won't see as much benefit.

Thanks for the info. I had not heard anything about it. Since I’m a free agent. I’m able to try any ball I want. Lol.

I look at all the tech and all of the haters and fans of TM drivers. I try and quiet the noise and look at the guys on tour that aren’t obligated to play TM metals but yet they do. Something to be said about that. And yes I have a TM logo in my avatar, but the facts are the facts.

Ever since TaylorMade stopped giving out tee up money, the number of non-staff TM driver users has dropped significantly.

Does anyone know if the M5 fw will be compatible with M3 tips?

Yes M5 tips will be compatible with M3 tips.

Thanks, that's what I thought but they mentioned a tip with 12 positions and I was thinking "the current one has 12 positions... why mention this now??? Is it different?" and it made me doubt myself.

It's not different at all, just TM jargon.....

I think the issue here is that there has been a tour version for many years where the maximum loft changes were 1.5* each way instead of the one that they are talking about which has a 2* each adjustment. Most of my shafts have the 1.5+/-. I have only in the past year used any +/- 2* tips. Regardless they both fit and work on all of these heads.

In the bag: Playing --- TaylorMade  Qi 10 (core) driver w/Fujikura Ventus Blue 6S. 3wd TM (OG) SIM (special smaller tour only head, same that TW was playing prior to the '24 Genesis approx 160cc) @ 15.*) with Fujikura Ventus 7-S.  5 wd TM SIM w/Fujikura Speeder 857TR-S (Japan made)

This is crazy posting. So based on my reading of the numerous posts in this thread, it seems we are getting a driver that gives little additional ball speed (and distance) and everyone is complaining. But what we get is a driver that gives us better dispersion all over the face (this is a bad thing)? Nope, if you hit it in the middle of the face you don’t get much if any additional distance. But if you don’t hit the middle, you get similar distance.......seems pretty smart for TM to go after a market where Ping pretty much dominated last year with the G400 Max. Which is better? Who knows, but if I was watching and wanted to sell golf clubs, I would surely be paying attention to Ping. So the end result is we are all faster over the entire face, I am certainly not one to complain about that. .

1.55 smash ? Lol kingdom monitor on peds ?

Interesting for sure. I had a 1.56 factor at Callaway in Carlsbad almost 20 yrs ago which was the highest number they had seen at that time. Rare for sure. The highest I have ever had and I have been tested in two run at Callaway, one at Cleveland in Huntington Beach, three times at TM Kingdom in Carlsbad and twice at TM Kingdom at Reynolds Plantation GA.

That's a big gain just from switching ball. Might be worth getting a couple to try out as I've been using Callaway since Nike stopped making their RZN.

3-7 MPH of ball speed gained has to be near what pros got after switching to the first Pro V1 in 2000. So the new TP5 is that kind of revolution in a golf ball? I'm going to guess that Jack Nicklaus hates it already if those numbers are true.

Jack Nicklaus and his grandson were playing the TP5 at the Father and Son a few weeks ago. His 15 yr old grand son was hitting his drives as long or longer than everyone else (referring to the younger Tour players not the Super seniors).

The Taylormade Rep came by the Golf Shop me and a buddy were doing our annual loft/lie distance checks before the season. He had the M5 460, M6 460 and both fairway woods as well. He let me put the M5 head in my gamer shaft and I was impressed. I hadn't warmed up and I only hit it twice but it was nice for sure. I really wanted to try the M5 Tour but he did not have one. None of the #'s stuck out other than neither hit was all that good and it was still performing. The real star was the M5 titanium 3 wood. Both my buddy and I hit that thing stupid good the 3 swings we each got out of it. A lot more testing to be done for sure, but initial looks and feel for me at least, left me wanting more.

The tensei ck orange in the m5 fairway is only 72g in the x flex and yet the Mrc website show 78 grams. It’s also advertised at “75” vs the Mrc website as “70”. Pure made for shaft in a premium fairway as a stock option is disappointing.

Both TM and PXG use them.
