When will we see a retail set of Tiger irons?

TM just went through a phase where they released clubs all the time and almost sank the company. They will likely approach this with extreme caution.

Totally different than releasing 4 drivers in a year. Back in May they said they were working on something for a general release. Would love to hear more about it. Hopefully he wins today and this gets some traction

TM isn't the old TM, they are owned by a venture capital group that isn't going to jump into the deep end of the Tiger pool without some certainty they will make some money. Tigers clubs are not for everyone, probably only .2% of the market is good enough to play them and they probably have to give Tiger a good chunk of the profits if they use his name on them.

TM doesn't have to look too far back to see how well Nike irons sold with Tiger at has peak. Be surprised if they make that mistake unless it is a very limited release. Heck, they even had a clause in the endorsement deal (to void it) if Tiger's back exploded and he didn't play enough.

 

As stated, Tiger own's his everything so unless he signs off on it, it isn't going to happen.

Blade sales are minimal and these types of players prolly already know what they want (ones that keep em and dont dump em after few bad rds).......I dont think they would make a killing with Tiger blades

 

Now if it was a GI model maybe but that wont happen

And yet...TM isn't offering them. They are the biggest money whores out there among OEM's. Nor has any company he has endorsed (Nike, Titleist, Mizuno) offered them, despite him keeping his specs consistent for a long time now. Given what they all know about marketing, I think my opinion is pretty valid.

Really is insane. What’s even more insane is they could make a s*** ton of money by just stamping his name on something that looks remotely close to what he’s playing. I know the nikes he used to sell weren’t exactly like the ones in his bag. I’d buy a replica putter too. But those blades are damn sexy. Missing out on some serious cash TM

 

I agree..... just make a players distance iron that looks similar to his blades "inspired by tiger woods" and they'd have gold mine on their hands. Ping's i500 sorta looks like a blade. Maybe TM could do the same? Just revamp the P790 a little bit?

They tried. All the spines in the shafts kept having problems with sciatica and were too inconsistent for performance.

I know exactly 1 person who plays a pure set of blades and he is scratch. 30 years ago 1/2 the people I played with played blades. If they released the would they sell? Sure. To like 100 people in Japan who play golf 3 times a year and a few people on this site. That’s it.

Wish they would have done some more testing this year with him. I don't know how many more phases they're gonna go through before they reach a final version, but I hope it's not 2-3 more. Have to think they can do some stuff between the Ryder Cup and the start next year.
