New PXG prototype driver

Thought I would be fine with the F9 but this thread has got the ho in me interested. Will be getting fit @ PXG last week of Jan.

They are great looking drivers!

I just hope you get better balls to hit than the old, cold, dog chewed range rocks that I got for my fitting...haha, looking back on that part, for a company claiming to be the best in the biz should use better balls for their fittings!

Were you at Scottsdale? Kind of strange they’d have folks hit off of banged up range balls at HQ... at least it was outdoors or hit into a range?

All the PXG fitters around he use top level golf balls.

Guy nitpicks about the alignment X, and he's a Pinger...um, turbulators anyone, and effort in moving weight which are both non-issues IMO.

Was your fitting at PXG headquarters?

Not at HQ, but with a PXG Rep. It is on their map of places to be fit on the PXG website. So it's not some make shift spot, it's the spot in a 100 mile radius....just struck me as odd given their premium stance in the market place...

For comparison purposes, I did a fitting with a golf course retail shop for a titleist ts3 driver, they had nice range balls or new range balls to hit for fittings, he actually had me hit my gamer for a base line. Then we actually started hitting pro v 1s with both clubs. When we could not beat my gamer, he said maybe with a stiffer shaft we could beat it, but he did not have those shafts in stock. But he was honest and the numbers did not support switching.

PXG has no say over the golf balls used at any of their fitting facilities outside of headquarters. Neither does any other OEM.

Do you work for PXG? I'm just not sure how you could say that unless you do. Anyway it's an issue I'd address if I worked for pxg. Every fitting site should be up to par. I've been to other places that have a range and they use a different color premium ball that the range boys sort out that are for fitting use. I've hit balls many many places and I've done fittings all over, these were the worst shape balls I've ever hit on a trackman. Dude is trying to sell the most expensive gear and using cheap dirty chewed up garbage range balls...That's all I'm saying. Rant over...

Unless PXG gives their fitters balks they are subject to what provided by the hosting facility as was mentioned earlier applies to every other brand. I’ve been to several fitting days at various locations from private courses including one for a pxg fitting at a course that hosts pga event to some local ranges and none of the brands used anything but what the course provided. Titleist reps during titleist Thursday will sometimes use prov balls but that’s not a guarantee and I’ve done two different ones

I was hoping to do a little testing this past weekend between the X and the XF but it was 40 degrees and raining out. I mean come on, PXG should know that when people pay a premium they want it to be sunny and 70's out when they go to try the product...

Haha I knows I texted our local/regional rep about placing a call to Mother Nature so I can get on a fitting. I’m sure the regional fitter wants a break from NJ and to travel a few hours south

I’ll take the ts3 over this 900 piece

Read and listen to the below link to a video on the tech in this driver and at $575, it not far off from the TS3, M5 and EPIC Flash. Engineering it this is nice and weight options are nice as well. this is on par with rest of top shelf drivers, may 5% more. Just IMO

https://Not allowed because of spam.co...f-gen2-drivers/

Also as a veteran I had no idea till recently PXG gives military both active and veteran great deals on his clubs.

For Veterans the clubs are:

- 1st Gen Driver 0811X, 0811LX & 0811XF- $295

- 1st Gen Fairway 0341 - $250

- 1st Gen Hybrid 0317- $200

- All putters - $150 YES THAT'S CORRECT, $150 for any of the $550 putters for veterans.

- Lastly Gen 1 irons are just $125 a piece making them the same price as any players Taylormade, Callaway, Ping or Titleist iron.

That's a great deal. Taylormade also gives 15% off using the same TroopID.com system

- Driver: Callaway Ai Smoke

- 3 Wood: Callaway Ai SMoke

- 17deg Hybrid: Ping G425 w/ OBAN Kiyoshi White

- 21deg Hybrid: Tour Edge C723 w/ OBAN Kiyoshi Purple

- Irons: Srixon ZX5 MKII 5-AW w/ Accra iSteel Shafts

- Wedges: Vokey SM9 54 & 58deg w/ Accra iSteel Wedge Shafts

- Putter: Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5 (2022)

- Ball: Taylormade TP5

Gen 2 hybrid and fairway on order!

FYI - it is about a 2 week build time right now for anyone looking to order anything directly from PXG.

No Gen 2 driver?

Was totally gassed by the end of my fitting, hit a few drivers just for fun but need to go back and do a real driver fitting. Honestly contemplating buying it blind but we will see.

I’m not a TM guy and the flash SZ isn’t doing it for me so far. I hit the F9 today at lunch at GG and honestly like that the best so far. Also hit TS3 which wasn’t bad. I’m currently fighting a nasty hook for whatever reason when I usually play a fade off the tee. So long story short, to be continued ...

It is a slightly different lifted one I believe. With more of a brownish color and maybe some red stitching? Someone correct me if I’m wrong

That's a good description. I don't like the color at all, the original all black stitched looks much better to me. I'm using my old one for sure, the new one is on the garage shelf.

I cant decide if I should go PXG or Mizuno st190. Both look so god but the pxg edges the looks with the matt color and with the shape that reminds me of Nika vapor fly pro and that is my favourite driver shape ever. But I am a Mizuno fanboy since the 90’s when I started. So difficult!

How are you guys getting along with the x and xf regarding to spin? I am a 105-108 mph ss at avereage.

Birdie Bob, what are you getting?

MizunoMade, mizuno will be there, pxg is better looking, and we know feel is top notch. If you need forgiveness and low spin, with a more squashed round profile, XF with lower loft.

If you want very low spin and workability in a sexy pear shape, X.
