2019 UA Golf Shoes?

Recommended Posts

I received my Hovr Drive shoes and the white spineless. I am impressed with the Hovr look and feel. Somewhat stiffer than my React Vapor 2s but prob need some golf action. The spikeless is marginally better than the old version. Little easier to get on and you will know what I mean if you owned a pair. Prob be a range shoe and occasional course shoe for certain spongy greens in small towns.

I still don't quite get what "integrated lacing" is supposed to mean.

I fell like these are wider than the previous UA offerings. As I mentioned above, the "cushion" was not quite as soft as the Nike React Vapor 2 that I received as a gift for Christmas. I will know more after I play Sunday.

ok great! wasn't sure if you were referring to the overall stiffness of the uppers or the sole, thank!

I got my HOVR Drive shoes last night - fit is about the same as the Drive Ones. They don't feel wider to me. I thought they felt very lightweight and comfortable. I went ahead and ordered a second pair.

Tried the HOVR today. Nice look and feel; better than any UA shoe I've tried in the past. They run a bit narrow. If I get them, it will be in wide.

How was the fabric on the shoe? Do you think it will be durable?

I think so but time will tell. I've never liked UA shoes and didn't have high hopes for this one. I was surprised how comfortable they were, especially for a spiked shoe.

I'm curious about the "woven" model. Love the look but they also look like they will be trashed as soon as they touch grass. The clarino model is basically synthetic leather, so they will hold up well to water/mud/grass.

Ok, I had a chance to take the spikeless version to the range last night. They are quite an improvement over the previous model. The insole is the cork like before, but they feel more comfortable and the materials feel superior. I know it is not much, but getting these things on and off is so much easier. The tongue is soft versus the plastic / rubber in the previous version. Again, more comfortable.

I will post something Sunday or Monday once I have had a chance to play 18 in the Hovr golf shoes.

So I ordered 3 pair of shoes last week all in size 10.5 because that's the size I wear in their tactical boot for work.

UA Showdown SL White

UA Showdown SL Sunbrella Overcast Gray

UA Match Play White

Received them and loved the looks on all of them but they were just too big. So I ordered all of the above plus another pair of UA Match Play in the steel color in 10.

Received those a few days later and they are all just too narrow. So I had 7 pairs of new golf shoes that I returned. Really disappointed with the fit of UA shoes because I really like how they looked.

I'm about to order a pair of Footjoy Icon Black in all white and a pair of Footjoy Tour-S in White/Green. I've always had Footjoy's in the past so I should just stick with what I know.

I had a chance to play in the cold in the Hovr shoes. They were comfortable, and I am impressed with them for sure.

I will use these and the Nike React Vapor shoes this year. Like them both. If I had to pick one, I would go with the Hovr because of the look. They are both comfortable for me.

Got my second pair of HOVR Drive's today. Fit is exactly the same as the first pair. These shoes are really comfortable - they have a nice spongy, springy feel to them when walking. They look great too.

Got a chance to try on the hovr drives today. Very nice shoe and I can echo the comment about the “springy/spongy” feel mentioned above by dw. The strange thing, for me, is they don’t feel as narrow in the toe box as they appear. For example, I also tried on the tour 360 xt sl and although they seemed wider in appearance than the UA, they actually felt a bit more snug. Gonna be a coin toss for me between these and the xt sl.

They really should have made the HOVR shoes the Spieth 3. The HOVR looks perfect for a sporty, but stable golf shoe. Much like the DO, there just isn’t anything to complain about with these. The last 2 Spieth iterations have been awful. Seriously, just put Spieth in these shoes and call it a day. Who knows, he may start playing better as well. Haha

After looking back at a few of the earlier impressions on the hovr, I’m a bit surprised some felt they fit on the narrow side like the drive ones. My forefoot is slightly on the wider side and I have to say, the hovr drives felt wider to me than any of the previous UA offerings.

Also read an article in GD about these where it was mentioned these were designed with a wider toe box. YMMV

Any updates on the Hovr? I’m torn between the Hovr and FJ Fury. Long time FJ supporter but the Pro SL was somewhat a let down. Thanks in advance for any insight.
