According to the Furyk interview, Phil pulled himself out of the morning match because his swing wasn't right and he wanted some range time. That was the perfect opening for Furyk to bench Phil for the afternoon, why would you put a guy in who is having swing issues on a course that is narrow with very penal rough. I give credit to Jim for admitting it, but it makes him look even more incompetent.

 

Benching a guy the first day has never really worked

 

Having Phil play alternate shot has never worked either. :)

One thing I've learned about Phil is that with his comments they are often ready fire aim. Like his laughable justification for his shenanigans at the US Open. If he would just not spew all this oral flatulence he'd be better off.

Euro's were hitting balls in the water left and right but you know what? They had the passion to overcome it. What about all the ridiculously long putts they made? Rough had no effect on that. We got beat plain and simple. Euro's routinely beat us at home(since I've been watching anyway) rough or no rough. They play better team golf regardless of the setup.
