ACCRA - ZTP - New Prototype

Oaks

Recommended Posts

Accra has a new Prototype that is out on tour - the TZP - I believe that this is the new version of the Tour Z Xtreme.

The early results out on tour as showing promise - with J.Day, Pat Perez, Goosen and Martin Kaymer as the early adaptors. There is also a stiffer tip version that Luke List and Tony Finau are testing as well. After the success that ACCRA saw with the RPG shafts and the current Tour Z line it is great to see them finally getting some play out on tour!

My understanding is that this is the new version of Tour Z Xtreme in the 200 and 400 series that should be coming out early next spring.

I haven't had a chance to hit this yet - but I have been told High Launch with LOW LOW Spin numbers.

My collection of ACCRA's

I became hooked on their stuff years ago with the SE80 and the SE80* in my fairway woods. The feel.

I thouhgt that the original Tour Z line was a little boardy - but I truly believe that since the Concept line and RPG there shafts are off the charts. I have not hit the Tour Z Xtreme so I can't comment on that one, but I am looking forward to hitting this one!

I really liked the Tour Z Extreme, had great results.

That font on the TZP though - Yikes. Not only does it look out of place, changing font so drastically is bad for brand recognition.

Remember this is just a prototype - but personally I like the font for ACCRA

They might make great shafts, but they can't decide on a logo can they? The newest version font is the worst of all of them IMO.

Err....check my signature. Love Accra. Tested the Hybrex iron shaft a few years ago and it gave me great numbers. I now game the TiMesh shafts which are fantastic. I'll definitely give this new driver shaft a whirl when it comes out.

So if I did not have to buy the latest and greatest, which Accra shaft would its devotees recommend I try in a driver and fairways? Driver swing is 105, medium to quick tempo. I get a little confused by their lineup. Hear great things about them. Do not like boardy feeling shafts.

As I said last night - I hit 3 balls yesterday - I have no idea what the ball did, how it spun or anything - just want I felt.

Ball 1 - what was that...

Ball 2 - ball jumps off face high - lose sight into woods

Ball 3 - same as before but damn that felt smooth

OK - after my initial 3 balls - What the heck is this thing. It doesn’t feel like my RPG.

It feels smooth like Jon Snow's sword going through a White Walker.

It feels smooth like fresh egyptian cotton sheets

It feels smooth like pure Maple Syrup.

For longtime Accra players - dare I say - it feels Old Skool SE70/80 Smooth - that original ACCRA Feeling that you got.

To me it feels like it has a lively tip - the ball felt like it was exploding off of the club face.

What I can gather is that it feels like an Old SE on 2018 Technology. If it is anything like that it will have Super Low Torque, but maybe more lively like how the SE* was.

Nicer weather can't come soon enough...

Thanks. That sounds line a nice build. Did you need any tip weighting or hot melt to achieve D3 with that weight shaft and length or was that just how it came out? I do like a mid-launch shaft and that looks like a nice profile. I would get fitted as they are too expensive to guess at it.

Super smooth, very stable. Have the 465 in the driver and the 275 in #3. Legit.

How are you finding launches and what can you compare them to?

Yes, they had to weight the shaft with glue and tungsten powder. This fitting was at a club champion.

Honestly I feel awful - the weather here in the Northeast has been terrible and I haven't gotten a chance to play recently.

That being said - I installed mine untipped. Cam Champs was tipped 1.5"

As I posted last week - unfortunately - the weekends here in NE have been terrible for golf (outside of family time), so I haven't had any recent rounds. Hopefully over Thanksgiving I will have one. That being said this shaft seems to be picking up steam on tour, especially with Cam Champ putting it into play. Look for more players soon.
