Cobra's new King F9 Speedback Driver, Woods, Hybrids and Irons (NO BUY SELL TRADE POSTS)

Two days ago I hit the F8 + vs. the F9 and Epic Flash. Same shaft Tensei Pro White TX 60 in all 3 . All heads set to 9.0 with the weights forward in the Cobra heads. Such a small difference in results its hard to stomach the price tags in 2019. I gamed the F8 + for the entire 2018 season and its hard for me to notice any difference in the F9 besides a slight uptick in ball speed.

My typical swing speed is 118 and launch around 16 degrees. I did find the Flash to launch higher and spin higher but I'm sure the sub zero model would bring those numbers much closer to F8 + and F9 with the weights forward.

With F9 @ 450 and Flash @ 530 I think I will hold on to the F8+ for another.....few months....

For sure! This is the shortest I’ve played a driver in a very long time. I’m really interested to see the results myself. I’m honestly starting to think anything over 45’ is simply too long but I could easy be wrong. BB

Waiting to hear back if mine is gonna be shipped soon, since we (you and I) ordered through the same individual. Congrats. Looks great. I also again, anything over 45" is too long (at least for me)

Trent is a good Amigo! That extra inch or so adds a significant amount of stress (deformation) to the shaft. It would not surprise me to hit more fairways and loose very little distance. I’m only 5’7’ so it flattens the driver a little as well. My TS3 is 45’ so we shall see! BB

White F9 Speedback arrived today. I feel like this is one of the best looking Cobra drivers they have done. I love the matte black finish on the top of the driver which is why I went with the Avalanche white color scheme. Getting this bad boy out tomorrow for a test drive. Got the smoke 75 gram x stiff in it.

Yes to the white... so smooth looking. The yellow is very polarizing but I think I'd want the white to game.

Yellow is the babe you meet at the bar that you remember for life, but the white scheme you bring home to mama.

....and that’s why they made two. I HATE the matte front area on the white model. I would definitely want it all gloss.

One of the same reasons I detest Taylormade the last few years. Can’t stand the painted area behind the face contrasting with the black carbon crown.

My real problem now? What to actually use this year. I really like the F9. I want one. I just got a screamin’ hot deal on a TS3 9.5 head and just got it yesterday. Great club....and now I’ve seen the new Mizzy ST190 and it is freaking beautiful. It’s already getting good reviews as well.

....oh yeah....and my trusty old LTD still works just fine. After 30 years of golf This is the toughest year ever for me to choose a driver.

Decisions, decisions....

+1 on this! Very tough to choose. I just picked up my F9 and one of the reasons I went with Cobra is that they are $100 less expensive vs Taylormade and Callaway but have the best stock shaft offerings on real deal shafts. You can't beat Atmos Tour Spec as a stock option. It a $250 upgrade on TM and Callaway not sure but probably significant.

Review from RS just out

looks like a winner compared to last years model can't deny SS and ball speed increases .

I disagree.

If he warmed up with the F9 and then generated the numbers (I assume this is actually what happened) and then he moved on to the F8+ on, like he said, same day, same session then you have got to assume he was fatigued which is where the loss in SS and BS are seen with the F8. Anyone else think the same?

Depends ho wmany shots he hit with F9. If he warmed up a little then only hit 10 or 15, then I say no, the gains are real. But if he hit like 30+... then yeah I'd expect a small drop off in CHS speed with F8+.

However, he lost 2mph CHS and 5 yards carry. What's the rule go... 1mph CHS= 3 yards carry, all else equal? So losing 5 yards is perfectly "normal" given the CHS. Read into it how you will as to why the CHS went down... but seems F9 probably isn't magically more efficient tha F8+.

Not knocking F9 at all, I totally want one... Just that it's maybe not worth buying new if you already have F8+.

Certainly does depend, I was just assuming.

I have the F8+ so these findings aren't making me want to switch. Although I do love the look of it.

I appreciate comparing to the F8+ but seems like when he tested the F8+ previously by itself he was avg 160 balls speeds vs 162.5 w F9+ anyway think you're over thinking this appears Cobra has improved their Driver incrementally being faster w better ball speeds. I appreciate reviews like this as it has me interested in trying it out in a few months. Hats off to Cobra for raising the bar again!

The F9 and Mizz St190 series are the 2 I'm most interested in trying this spring. Looking forward to hearing more from those that just received their new toys .good luck.

Yeah, I'll stick with my F7, I don't need to hit the ball further into the hazard penalty area. : D

If I could pick up an F8+ head for $100, should I do it? Already have LTD Pro, and am happy, but curious about the newer stuff as I did own an F8 3w and loved the sound/feel. Was too draw biased though and was a over draw/hook machine for me, had to let her go. LTD 3w seems a bit more neutral and maybe even a hint fade biased.
