Cobra's new King F9 Speedback Driver, Woods, Hybrids and Irons (NO BUY SELL TRADE POSTS)

Ordered F9 7 iron built to my specs on Monday and it arrived today. Monsoonal rains today in So Cal and ranges are closed. Did make it to the park at 4 PM and hit a few balls. Really easy to hit, excellent feel and nice high boring trajectory. Going to give it a go on the course and see if I want to put an entire set in play. They are a bit wide on the bottom but not to bad on top. And I am at a point where results and forgiveness may trump looks and ego.

My Tour Length white (with Smoke 70 6.0) arrived yesterday and I was able to hit some balls with it today. Club is awesome, just like I remember with testing. One thing that I noticed though was that sound was incredible with weight back, but really pingy (not even close to the same) with weight forward. I'll be keeping the weight back, but I was surprised how different the sound was. It was similar to the way the sound on the M3 440 would change based on the position of the weights.

I didn’t think it was possible, but the F9 is giving my G400 max a run. Going to play a bunch when it dries up and make a decision then. The f9 is longer and feels better. If I can dispersion in the same ball park, I think I’ll have a winner.

Currently testing the rest 🙂

TXG posting vids of fitting a current member here into F9. He's getting great numbers in the driver and then this morning they did a 3w fit. Oddly enough the Tour 3w head despite being more upright than Flash and others, does not seem to be too draw biased for him.

I wonder if the head, although sitting around 59* has a bit of a fade bias to it, sort of balancing things out?

Haven't been able to test the F9 line yet, looking forward to it though. And don't want to hijack the thread but the M2 issue was raised. The M2 fairway I had (paired with a Black Tie Matrix) was great right up until I split it down the middle. TM sent me an M4 replacement with no hassle, and I think it is even better. It's a rocket off the deck. Perhaps test those two against your M2.

Jumped in and bought one with a discount I had on Cobra gear, haven't gamed a Cobra driver since the S2.

Interested to see how it stacks up to my G400 LST HZRDUS Black HC.

Any thoughts how the Atmos Black TS Black 6 should compare to the HZRDUS HC Black 6?

I've hit both shafts and I felt the handle is much stiffer in the Atmos than in the HZRDUS. With Atmos I get almost no sense of loading and unloading but the hzrdus has a small amount of "give" to it in the upper mid shaft area, at least that's how it feels to me. Atmos Black I'd describe from tip to butt as, stiff, stiff, stiff. And the HZRDUS Black as stiff, stiff, medium.

It's interesting how Atmos has been so popular on tour but it's probably one of my least favorite shafts of all time. As usual, YMMV.

Yeah if you really like a totally solid feel, this is THE shaft for you. I haven't felt anything else like it before, nor do I want to again lol.

What's your diver SS? Sorry if already mentioned

If directed at me, then it depends. My driver swing is somewhat flawed still (so I've got a bit of wasted motion), but my 6i swing during my fitting in November was around 100mph on GCQ.

Shafts I like the feel of and tend to prefer are things like Kai'li, Tensei Blue, Raijin, Tour Blue, 2KXV blue, Accra 465, Speeder Evo III, etc.

Shafts I haven't liked - Anything Atmos, including the Blue, Evenflow anything, Motore Speeder anything, Tour Green, any of the Fubuki's.

I tend to like shafts that have a profile like my iron shafts (modus 120's). That is, decently tip stiffness but then a noticebale drop off in mid stiffness, then back to being stiffer again. I tend to not like the classic DG profile which is very stiff in the tip, still pretty stiff middle, but then a drop off in the handle. Some of those feel okay, like X Torsion or Kiyoshi Black/White, but I can't time it well. The loading and unloading feels slow. I like a very fast, but not whippy, load then unload. The head involved can change that though...some shafts feel good in one head, plug them into another and it's not so good.

Ever since putting the original ProLaunch Red in my hands 10 years ago I have loved boardy stout shafts - 6m3 black tie in the Epic is an all time favorite as well. If the Atmos Black is any sort of improvement over those two I'll be thrilled

105-110 SS, I struggle with a steep downswing when I fall out of tempo and the results can be nasty. Think garden hose type spraying of the ball.

I hit the range today with the f9 ordered 1/4” short atmos black tour spec 7s.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) my swing speed was up around 114 with this club today. I was swinging a g400 max with pro orange 6s about 110-112. I was really enjoying the max/PO combo and getting good dispersion and flight.

I was not finding the middle of the club using the f9 with Atmos Black TS 7s. It felt loose.

I added a little bit of weight to the head when I got home and built a stock length D4 swingweight set up with the 6x Kiyoshi HB that I ordered. It’s going to rain for the next few days so I won’t have a chance to test it.

When I ordered from cobra I accidentally (I guess) ordered two 18g weights. So if someone wants one then just PM me. First person to do so I’ll send it to them.

I’m disappointed with my “stock” shaft choice. I ordered it before I started using the super speed system which immediately unlocked about 6mph of SS that I was just shutting down by not rotating well. I’m excited to keep using it tho, I hope to see more results in a few months. I wish I had ordered the 7x

I'd like a 6x or 7X as well. Pm you about weight if still available.

I’m somewhat mechanically declined. If I have the standard 14g and 2g = D3 swing weight. If I take out the 2g and added heavier weight what would get me to D4?

I finally got to hit the F9 today. I really enjoyed the sound and feel of it over the F8. It seemed to just have a slight draw or slight fade, but it was pretty straight.

I have a question about the Atmos TS shafts. My fitter put me in an Atmos TS Red 7X. My swing speed is only 102-105. I've always hit a stiff shaft, but that's because that's what I thought I needed. I have a quick tempo and get a little spinny at times so I was wondering if that was the reason for the X flex.

I was launching it about 12-14 degrees with a spin off around 2100-2500. The head was also a 10.5 degree taken down to 9.5.

Does my fitter know what he's doing with the X flex? Are there other stats I should be looking at for flex? I'm new to all this newer tracking of numbers.

If I get the F9, I'll probably get the Atmos TS Blue since it's free and see if I can get by with that or if I need to get a red. I'm mainly concerned about the flex.

Thanks in advance!

I do swing it a bit faster than you but I also go fit into a heavy 7X shaft since I have a quick/hard transition. A compact swing with a hard transition swinging 105 is going to need something different than a smooth swinger generating the same speed.

I have the TS blue 7X in my 9* and it launches extremely easy, I even turned the head down to 8* and it still gets up there easy. The 6x should be even easier for you. The TS line has a stiff handle section for those who quickly load the shaft but still get the ball up in the air due to the softer tip.

Interesting. My head is about 6g heavier than yours. Im getting 204G with the 2/18g weights. I requested D4 SW at 45" with the Atmos TS Blue 7X. There must be some hot melt in there, that probably explains why it sounds so good. My EF head is only 193g. Im curious how it would sound with 10g of hotmelt

Yes, I’m hoping my post will help future orders. I do not like how light the head came from factory. I would 100% request a D4 SW if I were to do it all over again. (Along with order an XS shaft)

1/2" = 3 swing weight points

2 gr club head weight = 1 swing weight point

You need two more grams of HW.
