Ping Blueprint forged irons- New photos added page 27

Recommended Posts

I'm going to play only 7-LW next year so I don't care if they are a little unforgiving. Anybody with half a swing can play blades in the shorter irons.

Bingo. You rarely see a GI gap and sand wedge. No magic or evil happens around the 46 degree loft mark.

Holy butter knives Batman! OK, so what is the over/under for the date we will see the first set on the BST because they were too hard to hit and they’re going back to G 400s?

I just hope I'm the one to purchase them off BST...LOL

Some JO’s first question...lefty?

I could be wrong but if these aren't made for lefties it will be the first set Ping has not made LH.

I see Ping will finally make a real forged bladed iron, happy for us that play blades. Question is, will more players decide to give them a try? Its interesting that

so many companies have brought to market a forged blade

design in the past couple of years.

Can't wait to hit them and get all the info on them.

Sounds like we have about a six month wait unfortunately...

Boooo.

Maybe I'll just stick with my current irons for another summer and upgrade in the fall.

Smart move! I just sold my current set, so I have to make a move soon..

I'll be at the show. I'll quiz them for info.

The OEMs have capitalized on our addiction to shiny objects. I want a set of those too, but am smart enough to know I can't hit them.......well maybe the 8i thru the wedges.....hmmmmmmm.

yeah some just have an itch so bad to buy chit, they get a lil buzz on something and ready to dump everything for a picture of something

Bubba is playing them. So almost guaranteed lefty available.

Man I can't wait for the month or two after these are released. BST will have plenty to choose from at great prices after people realize they can't hit them!

Don't count on it. These irons will not be that hard to hit.

True that! They are after all PING.

you cant make a forged blade easy to hit.

Sure you can. Hit the ball near the center of the club face.

I remember when I bought my first set of true forged blades. According to many, my game (what I had) would fall apart. They even had me convinced I wasn't worthy of playing such a unforgiving club. I'm glad I didn't listen. I will always have a set around to play with when I feel like doing so. And my scores won't change.

Play what works and feels best to you, not a hard concept. I love my CF16’s, but for my game, MP18MB’s are actually easier for me to hit. I only play down to a 5 iron, so butter knife long irons aren’t even really a concern.

Smart move. I have been considering taking out my 3/4 irons and replacing them with my hybrids. I may try this move next year with my new Ping blades:)

I play the s55's now and am considering upgrading to a newer blade and am wondering if I should wait on these or go ahead go with a Titleist or Mizuno.

What I love about the s55's is that they have 90% of the feel, look, and workability of true blades with significant forgiveness benefits vs a true blade. What makes me curious about the blue prints is what edge they have over the traditional blades from companies like Mizuno and titleist, who have been making blades for decades.

You'd be surprised by the number of people that order the matching GW and SW with their GI irons.

After reading through the comments, I seem to be the only one disappointed that they aren't hollow blade-esk looking forged offering with great forgiveness. Cool that they have a blade offering, I'm sure their tour pros love it, but where is my smallish players hollow great feeling forgiving golf club? Maybe I'm asking for too much.

My thoughts exactly. See my comment above about the s55. It's unclear to me what these offer that blades from other companies don't.

A small headed hollow iron though? While the feel would certainly be different and possibly really weird, the combo of a blade head shape with significant forgiveness sounds very intriguing.

Ping has you covered with the i500 and G700's. I'm stoked they are releasing a true forged blade.

sure yes, i can hit blades. my friend plays mizuno blades. i hit them all the time. i dont fear them; not one bit. ive used them for a couple rounds last year when i had to send mine back for lie adjustment, and the 2nd time round, was an impromptu round and i didnt have my clubs.. Shot 78 on a 6700 course and i think a 86 on a 6850 yard course. So yes, i sure can play them.

But do you ever wonder why manufacturers design different tier clubs for different players ?

Probably because ones easier to hit than the other. thats my point.
