New Wilson CorTex driver

Picked one up on Ebay for $274 with Atmos Blue Stiff. From what I have read here and elsewhere the majority of the reviews ( from people who have actually hit it ) are positive. Really hope it's half as good as what I've read. Be cool to have a Wilson driver and PXG irons in the same bag!!!

I dont think the request for an X Stiff shaft is asking for too much. Wilson dropped the ball on this one.This is made for better golfers so it makes sense. Still it always seems like folks on this site go out of their way to bash Wilson. Its like you want less brands versus brands trying to increase their share and make a profit.

There's that too! I know that when I was getting messages that my pics were too large, I had to go in my profile and delete a bunch of pictures that I uploaded years before.

 

Either way, posting BST posts like was done here is never a good idea. Will more than likely get deleted and possibly get you in hot water with the mods.

Finally getting mine dialed in. What a cannon!! Turns out my best fit is somewhat counter-intuitive from my usual set-up. Best shaft is a Rogue 60 Tour S 125 msi, which I have used in the past with some success. I have a 10.5 deg head. My first set-up was with the weight all the way back, adapter in the -1 deg, standard position. This is my typical set-up. Started with the Atmos Red shaft it came with. Results were just so-so. A Fubuki was no better. Then tried the Rogue. Better. But not what I was hoping for. After some experimenting I have hit on the best set-up for me. Weight all the way forward, 8gm. in the toe, 2gm. in the heel. Adapter set at +1, draw. This did it. With this set up I am getting a medium-high ball flight with a very flat, piercing 5 yd. draw. Carry is equal to my summer carry but at 45 deg. instead of 85 deg.! Sound is the best of any composite driver I have tried. Wilson has hit a home run with this one!

I saw somewhere on twitter that none have it in the bag yet but Wilson is “expecting” their staff to have them in the bag soon and thinking their euro staff will be putting it in

He didn't play it. He played the Ping still

Imo unless they have some different heads for the tour or his incentives are just outrageous compared to the prize money he can win during he isn’t switching. The cortex isn’t significantly better than anything on the market

2400 is not high spin. if anything, for his ball speed 1800 is too low.

So, not too rehash am old tired argument. But, after seeing all the hype that Cobra is getting over the F9, I couldn't help but think of the Cortex. Cobra is, in some people's minds, not that much more highly regarded than Wilson. Yet, at the $449 price point, they seem to be generating a ton of buzz over their driver. My question being, are they giving up their perception of high end by being priced less?

I’m not sure cobra has s high end perception. Many people have said when they hear cobra they think cheap/inexpensive. I think since the amp cell that may have changed a bit but they still aren’t in the high end group to many. They are probably more known for their color.

Right, that's my point. Cobra isn't held in the highest regard outside of die hard golfers. But, at a lower price point, they appear to be poised to make a dent in driver sales and possibly win over future customers.

 

If I had to guess, I'd imagine that Cobra is going to outsell the Cortex by a very big margin. Just speculating.

Cobra is priced correctly, has a decent reputation with clubs although it’s perceived as cheap and unlike cortex f9 not only keeps up with 2018 releases it surpasses some and is hanging or beating 2019 releases

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement weight or screw for the Wilson Cortex driver? 
 

I lost one of the black screws on the course and Wilson has been absolutely no help in getting a replacement. The rep said we don’t sell it on our site. Uh yeah, that‘s why I am calling you. I refuse to believe that nowhere in Wilson so they have a replacement screw of weight for this club. They told me to call around to one of their resellers. 
 

It’s just a machine screw with a torx head. I am just not sure of the size. Any help is appreciated.

Just take the head off and take it to the hardware store and see if you can find something that fits. Or at least get the threads and size it takes and you can order something on line that might work. I have done that before and had to file down the head of the screw a little but it worked.
