Yes the 4-7 seem to have that weird ring on the faces of tungsten. I didn't really notice it until they started to rust up. You can see the Tungsten doesn't rust. Not sure why its there and sadly i dont think Titleist would ever give a answer as to why its there. The even odder thing is my 3 iron from the set doesn't show any external Tungsten on the heel toe or face. The whole club rusted up like the 8/9 iron but i was told the Tungsten was internal on that club for some reason??

how'd you get them to rust/patina so quick? Leave them overnight in salt water? Those r sic!!!

Mix hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar and table salt in a spray bottle. Spray it on and they rust in 30 seconds

HA HA HA completely understand that! I don't have access to everything to do the job myself, and his work is awesome so I'm just gonna have him do it all. Plus my golf shop isn't open anyway.

I have to get some equipment also and it’ll probably run me around $100 between a swingweight scale, hosel brush, etc. Haven’t done a build in a while so I figure all of this downtime when the baby is asleep could be therapeutic.

 

I also have to referrule my Miuras with my BB&F so it doesn’t hurt to make a small investment into the stuff. I could always resell the scale when I’m done to recoup the expense I suppose.

 

I’m considering putting some grain into the raw heads with a 3M pad and really don’t want to end up scuffing the ferrule job Doug would do if he built them for me. It is just easier to that as heads only.

Have the clubs built with some PX LZs and BB&F ferrules, and gave them a little spritz of some patina juice to get the magic started. Excited that we will have golf back in Wisconsin in just over a week!

Hope it's okay to post a question on this thread... I just removed the black finish on my SM7 wedges - soaking overnight in vinegar. Two look great already, one of them is a bit splotchy. I'm soaking again to see if that helps.

This was a bit of whim and I haven't done this before.

Is there anything else I need to do after wiping off the finish?

I noticed some rust in a couple spots after they dried - is that normal?

they will rust and look like FairwayFred's above......you can try very light fine steel wool to uniform the finish and you can quicken the rust process with a hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and salt mix.

Let me add mine.  I bought some raw Vega VC-03 and oil quenched them.  It was a fun project. These are still my gamers, although I reshafted with KBS TGI 80
