Callaway epic flash? is this legit? (New Pics added Pg 1)

Disclaimer: I have not hit the Flash outdoors yet......

.....but man all of this talk about the sound seems really over-stated to me. I've hit every current driver indoors and I'm just not seeing it at all. Sound of course relates directly to feel. I thought the club felt great. My only problem with the club is cosmetics. I can solve that issue through the Customs program so no biggie. The driver just flat performs man. I think as the year goes on this sound 'problem' will go away once people see the performance.

I finally got mine out the the range last light with the proper shaft I was fit into and I'm a full convert. Full disclosure, never been a cally fan, this is the 2nd cally driver I've bought. The first was the original epic I pikced up 2 weeks ago just to try out while I waited for the EF to arrive since it was on sale. The EF is definitely louder than the original Epic, but not obnoxious (to me). I used to game the JPX900 which I found to be louder. A few grams of hot melt should solve the issue for anyone worried about the acoustics. The color is fine, you dont even notice the green at address. Just ditch the stock HC and you will be good to go. I got mine for much less than retail which wouldnt be possible through the customs, so I'm quite happy

Looks so much bettter than the original color scheme, nice job!

Thanks! It was worth $70 to me for sure. Now which shaft, Speeder 757 iv, Fujikura Pro 2.0 TS, Evenflow Black 7, or good old Kiyoshi Purple 75. Going to be fun figuring it out!

I hit the Flash, F9, and M6 recently. Don't recall the sound being particularly off-putting on the Flash, but definitely noticed it with the F9 (which I really wanted to like based on all the praise). All 3 performed just about the same for me, and were outperformed by the TS2 / TS3 in my limited testing.

Will be sticking with my G400 Max for now. Thing is just works too well for me to move on from at the moment.

Has anyone seen the Epic Custom they are releasing in store that has the red white and blue color scheme?

I got an email from Golf Galaxy. Supposedly releasing on 2/15?

It's on their site... look slike only standard version (no SZ) model. for the $70 upcharge you might as well just do the Callaway Customs route and pic your own colors

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but does anyone know what the heavier weights look like in the sub zero? I just received my order, and I asked for a heavier weight (45" Tensei Pro Orange) to even out swing weight, but the weights look the same to me. The front weight is labeled "2" (I believe the standard) but taking the sliding weight apart I don't see any clear markings for the weight.

Stock 12g on left, heavier 20g on right.

Thank you. Definitely didnt get the heavier weight as requested.

If they are handling swingweight requests like that have for the past few generations, you will usually have to order and install the extra weight yourself. I have never had Callaway actually do a swingweight adjustment for a customer on the assembly side. We (the customer or I) have always had to make that adjustment after ordering the weight separately, even when requesting in during order. I had to do the same on my staff Epic and Rogue drivers. Most companies will not touch swingweight anymore.

Cobra swing weighted my F9. Unfortunately my Epic Flash is too light SW wise. Any idea how much that 20g weight is?

No idea. But, you can also add weight in the front by getting a previous Epic or Rogue SZ weight. They will fit.

Just looked them up in our ordering portal. Looks like the slide weights would retail around $20 per slider weight. There's a 12, 16, and 20 listed. And a boat load of the front screws in various weights.

Im a not real high spin player so I was fit into the standard EF. I am a bit worried if I just beef up the rear weight it might start launching/spinning too high. Getting more and more comfortable with the driver/shaft combo, so might actually end up needing the SZ or had hotmelt to my EF closer to the face

Gotcha. Out of curiosity, as a high spin player, how did the SZ work or did you not try it?

Typo, sorry about that. NOT a real high spin player. I was only spinning the standard EF at 2300-2500 in at 10.5* with ball speeds averaging 163. Dispersion with the standard was much better for me vs the SZ. I ultimately went with the standard EF at 9*, hitting high flat bombs even with the 9* head but have not checked the ball speed and spin yet

Thank you. Definitely didn’t get the heavier weight as requested.

My driver just shipped so I will have it soon. I’ve requested D4 SW at -3/4”. I was told they would adjust the sliding weight in accordance. I’ll post what happens.

Can I ask who you made the request through? Callaway directly or a retailer?

Typically ridiculously low spin naturally (couldn’t play the Rogue Sub Zero), but the Epic Flash Sub Zero is just stupid long. There are a few in front of it due to overall dispersion, but if the fitter can dial in the right set up it’s clearly the longest.
