I’m sure Taylormade has a decent enough staff to make him something.

 

It doesn’t take a putter specialist to mill an Anser 2 style putter to his specs. Or whatever else he wants to look at.

Was he not using his Scotty only last year? He was using his Scotty on the practice green this year too. Has he signed a 14 club deal in the last few months?

Anyone have an official count on number of different putters he has used this year? Has to be a record for Top 5 player. Seems like he switched every other round for past 5 months.

TM would never do it but they should release their anser style putters with and without the insert. I like aluminum inserts and I get they want to push their roll groove tech but man there is something about a single piece milled putter (I know most necks are separately made). Maybe via the vault.

Why? TaylorMade's ethos has always been about performance. If they believe 100% that their pure roll grooves perform better than a solid face (which they do), why would they release something they believe to be sub-optimal? It doesn't make sense.The only way you'll see a release from them without their current groove tech is if they find something else that they consider to be better.

 

I used and collected milled putters for fifteen years, so I understand the appeal and perception that they're a premium product. But truth be told, there is nothing inherently better about the performance of single piece milled putters compared to a putter with groove tech (insert or milled). Sound (feel) can be tuned in both, but I'll take the one that's been shown to create a better roll over one that just looks pretty.

and then brought it back a couple weeks later in a different color and shaft/ hosel to be ditched again after only two rounds.

I wonder who has more putters in their basement: Zac Blair or DJ. Then again Tiger said he had somewhere between 60-80 Newport 2 copies at his house

This might be controversial (though I’ve said it before), but no putter style is going to fix DJ’s stroke when it gets crappy. Sometimes it looks great, other times he yanks that putter way to the inside after contact. It can get really ugly.

I don't even remember him not using the Spider but he won the US Open with a milled blade so maybe that's why he keeps searching. With the recent articles about equipment deals not being worth it if you can bag a few top 10's each year, which he does regularly, not sure why he wouldn't try get out of his to find the right putter.
