Steve Stricker testing the New Callaway Flash driver

Recommended Posts

Now that there are better pictures, I actually think the yellow goes well with the green. And, that's coming from a Vikings fan.

Just think old North Stars colors and you won't have to think it is the team from the other side of the border!

As a Minnesotan, I’d rather justify the colors with the nostalgia of the north stars than not get it because of our questionable football team lol.

I wish they’d do something sleek, like the 816DBD, but apparently the colors are necessary to grab attention or something..

"Flash Face"??? Come on. Couldn't even come up with your own gimmick to sell new drivers? Seems like a twist face counter to me.

This is NOTHING like twist face. Twist face is simply high toe/low heel correction, nothing more. this face structure has never been done before. Should be interesting.

I guess after so long of companies doing everything they can to sell clubs you will eventually have to use the same name in your "improvments:

What exactly is different about this face structure?

They both have the word face in them, probably because the technology refers to the face itself. Any surprise there?

Once again, lots of complaining about the colors on the BOTTOM of a club. Someone explain to me how in the world that matters?

Does it matter for performance? No.

Does it matter aesthetically when I have to look at it every time I pull it in and out of the bag? Yes.

No different than having two identically priced cars on a lot and you're going to buy one. One is pink, purple, and orange while the other is a nice stealth black. Pretty sure I know which one you're going to choose...but maybe not if colors and looks don't matter to you because why does it matter which paint color is on the OUTSIDE of the car?

Terrible analogy. Let’s change that to the bottom of the car, as really, that’s what we’re talking about, the bottom of the club. And no, I couldn’t care less the color of the bottom of my car.

Nice try though! If you’re saying that you look at the bottom of the driver when you pull the headcover off and the color of the bottom somehow has an effect on your confidence, well then, I think there’s probably bigger issues.

I'd say it's more related to the back of a car. When you're driving the ball, you look down on the top of a driver so you don't see the bottom. When you're driving a car you look out over the hood but you don't see the trunk or your tail lights.

This is the Porsche Panamera of drivers.

Cool tech but it still can't be hotter than .830. OEM's have a nifty way of making everyone forget that fact. Hate to be a wet blanket but it's all about misses now (and balls). If you gain 12+ plus yards with this it's not the head.

The point of flash face and TM's new whatever it is they're calling it, is they can now gaurantee that the clubs will be as close to that as possible. They couldn't do that in the past. Retail heads could measure well below max CT due to manufacturing tolerances.

Yes. High toe is where I saw 4 mph gain over my rogue.

Rep said it was on purpose since that was most common miss. And to help the guy using the high toe to turn the ball over for that running draw.

Think “ more mass “ not “thinnest spot on the face. “.

It's all about the miss. If they can make the head "hotter" outside of the area most people don't hit it on anyway, the sweet spot, vthem people most certainly can see big gains without changing anything except the club.

How much mass is in the thicker spot? Not enough to change MOI. High toe is my most common miss, hope it works.

I will most likely own a SZ, but will either have to get used to putting the cover back on each time, or send it to Continental.

Both colors would be really easy for them to replace, especially the yellow. You'd probably lose the Callaway toe logo if you replaced the green. I suspect Continental will be seeing some serious business with this release. :D
