I'd look into a cheap flight (if they exist from Missoula) into PDX. Grab a hotel in a suburb and there should be a handful of decent winter courses within a 30 minute drive. Maybe anchor down in Lake Oswego area and you'd have some good courses, food, and drink. Langdon Farms, OGA in Woodburn, Stone Creek in Oregon City, are a few I'd consider in the area.

Traveling by wheels could be tough, Winter condition is anyone's guess. Semi drivers goes over the pass will tell you that. Was close to freezing at the low land last week and a half now it's warmer but that also means moisture.

Winter Storm could come from the South or the North.

So far in the last 30 days we have more rainfall than the past 7 months combines. All I have to do is look at the soil in the back yard and that'll tell me it;s too soggy for golf unless you like to golf in the mud. Most the greens are elevated here, so unless frozen it's okay, the issue would be to get to the green from the tee box.

In any case, I'd imaging we'll be better than the Montana in Winter. :golfer:

Contrary to the popular believe it rains in Seattle. I have to say besides the Convergent zone ( North of Seattle to South of Bellingham ) most the area will have less annual precipitation than North or South of here.

Traffic, is a big headache here since more are moving in to the area. Avoid Seattle and surrounding neighborhood from Jan.1 2019 through early Feb.

Alaskan Viaduct is coming down but the new tunnel to replace it would not be ready for about 3-6 weeks of time. Losing one of the main through way ( hwy 99 ) will be something we had never experienced before.

Our City leaders call this situation required Maximum Restrain.

If you're heading this way, try the many golf courses in the Pierce County which is just South of the King County where Seattle sits. Stay down there and enjoy golf.

He’s from Montana...he’s not worried about driving over the pass in the snow.

you might consider Wine Valley in Walla Walla WA. It's a firm & fast course (even when I've played it in October & March). Green fees are $65 plus tax, including cart & range balls.

I like it more than Chambers Bay. WV has turf similar to the Bandon courses, with large undulating greens.

Temperatures can be relatively mild (it's 50 degrees today in Walla Walla, the same as Seattle).

Walla Walla is about a 6 hr drive from Missoula.

Not the Pass nor the snow/ice. It's the "other" drivers on the roadway. Some really need to take the driving test again. They never know how things work in general.

That seems more of my time frame and price. Wouldn't mind the long drive but would rather go somewhere closer.

I think you're only concern with Wine Valley is the potential for frost delays. It doesn't rain much this time of year and Jan/Feb can have some great mid 40s days with clear skies.
