P760 VS Z785

I have not hit the p670 but own z785. Srixon look and feel amazing. Very good ball speed and spin. I think the do everything well and offer some forgiveness. Feel is amazing. Check every box for true players iron and so give good distance. Put it this way...gonna be in bag a long time.

I just got a set of 785s delivered. Outside of a few blades, these might be the best looking irons I've ever seen.

Srixon offers TONS of shafts and grips at no upcharge, and for a much lower price. The quote I got for my 5-p set was unreal and made the decision easy.

Congrats and welcome to the club! I LOVE mine. Great looks and feel. I am beyond happy with mine. My mp-32 are probably never gonna see the course again. Very happy I did not order mp-18 mb that I was considering. The z785 are just a little thicker top line but way more forgiving and I think feel even better.

Thanks! They get their first round out on Friday.

I've been in a tumultuous relationship with the Jpx 850 forged, before that I had the 825 Pro and MP-63s. I was happy to see the lofts match up to the 825 which were my favorites.

I had a set of P770 this year that lasted about one month. I realized that certain iron shapes just throw me for a loop. Plus the 770 had a really thick sole that didn't work well for me.

Srixon are really deal. 2 years ago I could have picked up a z765/z965 combo that I had a chance to buy. Felt amazing and had good trackman numbers. Unfortunately they sold before I could pull the trigger. Mint used set. Anyways, z785 are smaller and look nicer than z765.

I prefer the looks and feel of MB. Z785, check all those boxes for me. Feel, looks and performance. Added bonus they are more forgiving. Bottom line, find a way to test them. They are amazing sticks.

P760 look good. I'd be curious to compare ball speed and feel. Srixon has both. My understanding is p760 feel good but are not on same level. For me, feel trumps all. Def test, p760 are getting good reviews too.

Not sure many people have the p760 yet. I do, but haven't played with them yet. I can say they look great in person and even better behind the ball. In love with the shape. When demoing them they were more forging than the jpx919t while having a smaller, compact shape.

I’ve seen this mentioned in other threads and saw it today for myself. The P760 look really, really good from the address position. This was only in store. I put them next to several others— 919 Tours and Forged, Srixon 785, Titleist AP1, TMB and AP3, and Ping i210. The 760 is a smaller head than I expected, but not like a Titleist CB. Really, same size as the 919 Tours, but a bit thicker along top. The 760 4 and 5 irons look more inviting to me than the others. Next would be the Srixon 585, not the 785

These TM heads do have a shape that suits me. I liked the look from address immediately, and like how the blade looks. Just right. No idea why Rick Shiels sees tons of offset in the long irons. Not the case at all.

What are your opinions on these irons and what would you play?

Hit both during a fitting, and was fit into 760's. The 760's feel better and retained ball speed a bit better on miss hits than the Z785's. One could maybe argue the 760's look "better" (ie smaller) at address, but that's totally subjective so I won't really comment on that. At the end of the day, I hit the 760's further with a tighter dispersion than Z785's and they felt better to boot.

The only reason I haven't got the 760's yet is price. With TM, you can bet your bottom dollar a $1400 set of irons will be had for $750 or $800 by mid season... Heck maybe even before then. Got my 790's in February of last year for well below retail. There's literally no reason to buy clubs brand new anymore unless you are looking to burn cash.

Speed foam may be a marketing gimmick but whatever TM is doing with it is working. The 790's are awesome irons, and I plan to buy one again as a 4i to replace my Miura 4i.

The 785's have stronger lofts and .5 inch longer shafts than the P760's. Both sets are good. Some will prefer the look and feel of the 785's, and some will prefer the P760's. Hit them for yourself. Personally, I prefer the looks, feel, and standard length shafts of the P760's.

No they are same length. Both 37" 7 irons. Z785 is 1 degree stronger.

I haven't hit the 785, but I played 765 for 2 seasons. Also hit the P760 a little while back. Couldn't stand the 760, there's no comparison IMO. Srixon makes a very nice players CB.

Your post offers nothing except an apparent bias against TM products.

Haha and yours offers nothing except your bias for TM products, and some debatable info about shaft length... not sure what your point is.

This thread asked for opinions, and I gave mine.

FWIW I don't have a bias (for or against) TM. I play what works, including my 2017 M1 440.

I dont think hes seen z785 in person. They are not bigger than p760. And EXACT same length for standard shafts.

Exactly. I played 765 for a while and fell for the p790s. While they were easier to hit, I found I was hitting less greens and didn’t have total control of working the ball. Now I’m back to Srixon and happily in more control. YMMV, and maybe it was a bad shaft fit for me, but it’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I have checked shaft lengths vs P760's in two different stores. The 785's have longer shafts. If you are looking at spec sheets for your information, some brands list gripped lengths while others list ungripped lengths.

End of a grip is not 1/2"

My point is this: I read your post to get information about the clubs as requested by the OP. What I learned from your post was that you had no experience with one of the clubs, and that you "couldn't stand" the other club. This does not tell any of us anything credible. What did you not like about the 760's?

Go to a store and check them yourself. And yes, the end of the grip can add .25 to .5 of an inch, depending on the grip.

Really don't think you know how to measure irons there bud

Had 790s at 1/4" over (which is same length as Srixon standard length) I now have 785s and sold my TM. Srixon is more accurate and consistent. I felt the TM were way to light for me and love the heavier head on the Srixon.
