I'm currently gaming the Srixon ZU85. Have them in 18* and 20* with the Fujikura Mahana shaft (stiff flex). I tried them at my local fitter on Trackman and got better numbers compared to the TM GAPR (hi/lo), Mizuno FliHi, and TM 790 UDI (?). I also found them more forgiving and had a crisper feel compared to the others. Liked them so much that I tried the F65 fairway woods and ended up bagging those too (3, 4 and 5 wood - used, and cheap since they are one year behind the F85). In fact, I'm getting along with them so well that I have the H65 hybrids in 16* and 19* on the way.

The only Srixon I'm struggling with at the moment is my Z785 driver, which can be attributed more to a swing problem (7-12* inside out swing path, FA slightly closed at impact due to strong grip, and spin axis of -20+ - in short, anything from a 30 yard draw to a hook into the next ZIP code...)

Thanks guys tried both UDI 2 iron with tour issue DG X100 and U85 with recoil F5

I think forgiveness wise U85 was money, high and straight great soft feel for a hollow head pleasantly suprised, it was 245 all day, really tight dispersion.

UDI- I think is the best looking at set up, felt powerful, it almost felt like it exploded off the face and definitely shape the shot more, especially for hitting low shots, and even with the steel shaft it was longer than U85 by 10 yards or so.

From the fairway- both are good but U85 was definitely with recoil shaft was easier to hit higher and landed softer for those long second shots into the green.

From the Rough- I think this is where the main difference was found- from the light rough, U85 was really good, but UDI not so much, I didn’t even attempt from semi deep.

I think for my game I am going to go with -UDI cause I have Hogan VKTR hybrid at 20 thats just magic out of the light rough.

UDI with steel shaft was just money off the tee and tight holes and I like hitting various trajectory with it, but U85 was so forgiving and straight

I still have the U45, and it's definitely stood the test of time between the 65 and 85 generations. I have also tried 790 UDI and although it was almost 15 yards longer than my U45 with the same shaft, I kept the U45 for the incredible forgiveness. I have the regular P790 in 4 and 5 iron, though.

So do I. Still in the bag and it is hard to take it out for anything new. Elevates the ball fairly easy and can hit low stinging draws or high fades. Have a steel shaft in it now, but debating to put a graphite in it this season.

Yes! Wonder how they would do with a Steelfiber i95 or a Paderson, which is a shaft line I’ve become interested in. Something in that 90-100g weight range would be fun to try.

Man even though I have a TP UDI and a 790 one, these posts are making want to try out that u85 with a steel fiber shaft.

How do you like the steelfiber 95s in UDI vs. 110s in irons? I am going with 110 in irons, but also putting in a 110 into my TP UDI 18* as well. Wondering if 95 steelfiber would be better?

+1 for the srixon

I have the ZU85 with aerotech steelfiber i95 in stiff

you have to be in shape to move it but if you're a strong player this thing is really good

very forgiving and easy to shape, ball still in play and long even on off center hits

the low torque on the steelfiber helps

for something more smooth I'd look at the graphite design tour ad for driving iron, I can't think of a better combo for a driving iron

Actually ended up not liking it as much as the old UDI with 110z probably going to reshaft. Just picked up a U85 to test and will go with the steel fiber 110 in that one too. Since I don’t carry a 3 iron, I play my driving irons at 3 iron length. Helped me with control and gappage

Ive hit almost all of them, and I think im the only person who likes the g400 crossover. It has close to the distance of the 790 udi but way more forgiveness, it does have massive offset though.

2nd favorite is u85 and the tee cbx iron wood.

Couldn’t get the distance i needed from cf18 or tmb because if too much spin for my swing.

I haven’t tested all of them but Titleist T-mb 4,3,2 has been in my bag for a couple of years now.

Since I am really bad with my woods of the tee my Titleist 2-iron has served as my main driving club. It is long, good looking and nice feeling. It took me around a windy day at Carnoustie of the back tee with decent result two years ago.

For me the cobra utility and mmc fli hi have worked best when I want the ball to stop on the green. When it comes to launching missiles from tee for long and safe shots the best have bern PXG 0311x and Honma TW-U forged.

My vote is for the Srixon U65 or the Cobra King Utility. I hit them both better than the rest.

I've been using my Controller 17° driving iron on and off for 20 years. Very effective club, keeps the ball low and get a ton of roll. Looking at the Srixon u85 18° with s300 steel shaft.

Anyone use the u85 with steel over graphite shaft?

I can't believe no one had mentioned the TMB. I thought it was the most iron like, without the thick sole, and much more playable off the deck. Mine is paired with a Pro White and works for me!

Agree here. If you are looking strictly for a driving iron the TMB may not be it.. but it's an extremely versatile for me. I have DGS400 steel on mine to play closer to my irons.
