I think I can’t ever replace pm grind now.

You know I tried it when the all the hype was there, but did not like the look and it just felt different in my hand, little heavier than other wedges. But past 2 weeks I have been using it cause, I lost my 60 and it was in my back bag, and was playing club comp. Went out early for two hours to get use to it and man, I think my chipping and short game is just so good. Flop shots and hooded low running shots, akward 30 feet hit and stop and the bunker shots, I don’t know if anything does better and I don’t know if it will ever come out of the bag. Shot two under par for the comp, largely because I was getting up and down from eveywhere and making pars, where bogey looked like a good score.. Do anyone think the same, still think it is the best lob wedge on the market still?

I'm on my third 58. It's my favorite club in the bag.

With a new one coming out, I'll have to decide whether to try the new one or buy a couple of the old ones.

In the Bag:

Driver: 10.5 Epic Speed Graphite Design AD-ITZ 60

Fairway Wood: 15 Epic Speed Graphite Design AD-ITZ 70

Fairway Wood: 19 Epic Flash Tensei Blue 75

Irons: Apex Pro '19 4-AW, Aerotech Steelfiber 95

Wedges: 54 MD4 and 58 '19 PM Grind

Grips: Tour Velvet Jumbo

Putter: Odyssey MXM 9 HT

Balls: Chrome soft Triple Track

Like others have said, if you give it a fair shake once you get used to it, it’s hard to imagine using anything else for lob wedge.

I was very happy to see that they introduced a new version. I can’t imagine the new one is much different, but at least I know I’ll be able to easily find replacements for several years!

I liked em for everything but full shots.

Then came the hi toe and it demolished the PM grind and is great for full shots.

Nah. Hi toe is really an imposter. It’s more like a normal wedge.

Pm grind is a very very good wedge for full and partial shots if you let your mind go toward results and away from looks. You can’t find a more forgiving wedge.

Now that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone either. Some people already hit the ball too low etc. this wedge will help flight the ball down because of its high cog. So I get that.

I was OK with my PM grind wedges but like the OP I felt that they were a little too heavy for my liking. Full swing wedge shots are not usually an issue for me but the PM's were a struggle when attempting that shot.

There's a lot of love for those wedges but there's better out there for me.

Only thing I'm hesitant about the 2.0 is that it supposedly has more offset. I'll have to wait till I see one in hand before I decide. I've got 2 ea of the 56* and 60* of the 1.0 in reserve though.

And the new model has more bounce

Just saw the the tour gray finish is a chrome finish and will not rust. That will about seal me on keep using the originals... that and the fact the price increase of 30 bucks.

Yep. My rep was right after all. He said no raw finishes this time. Looks like Mavericks dads set is definitely tour issue raw.

I love my 2019 PM in the 54°. That grind is outstanding for me for full shots and partial shots. But, I kept my PM 1.0 in the lob wedge because that grind has suited my short game since the OG Eye 2!

I find the PM grind to play very much like the HiToe from TM, without a real preference. I am a big fan with any full shot from the 64 degree up to a gap. The only thing that has them currently out of the bag is my Vokey wedge gave me better results with half wedge shots from wet conditions to elevated greens and that is a common shot this spring where I live. The Vokey sole handled the mud/soup better but I do love the PM/HiToe with full shots with any loft. They line up SO good, and if I play them a tiny bit further back in my stance I got great results.

Ya I regret selling my Eye2 S & L wedges. Looking to return to that unique feel and comfort level.

I know I'm far from the biggest hoarder out there, but, I currently have both the stainless Sw & Lw as well as the BeCu Sw & Lw, and all are in more than good shape. There's just something comforting about knowing that no matter what happens, I have virtually indestructible club heads in my possession that almost guarantee that my short game is taken care of, as much as that can ever be blanketly true!

Let's just call it for what it is....A Ping Eye2 replica.

Maybe it's just me but i don't like the fact that they essentially just copied a club and named it after Phil Mickelson like he invented it.

Anyway I loved the Eye2 , and use the "PM grind".....great wedge design. Thank you Ping. Probably the best bunker clubs ever invented

Agree without question. Do you ever go full or close to full shots with your 60? And if so, how do you like it? I never had any issues hitting full shots with my old Eye2 S & L wedges.

I probably don't use it for anything outside 30yds. I'd say the biggest weakness of the club for me is full swings just because I have so little confidence in it for that, it just looks so prone to digging with its big head and sharp leading edge. I use it for chipping and bunker play exclusively and use my MD forged 56 for every else

  • 2 weeks later...

Been sporting my 58* PM grind for a few weeks now and continue to be impressed. Eventually took my 64* Sure Out from the bag, because I can’t find any shot the SO can do that the PM can’t. Also, no digging or other problems with fuller shots out to 75-80 yards, other than an occasional tendency on my part to flip and slide under it a bit...but that’s not the club’s fault
