Callaway Superhot Magna

Will be playing a full round with these later. Initial thoughts is that the yellow version is bright and really stands out. It performed as expected in a par 3 round last week (high launching, low to mid spin, could putt it with the flag in). Not hit it with a driver or wood yet.

Any one else got feedback?

Have it ordered on line, still no yellows available retail in NC. I will get back to you.

I played a demo sleeve this weekend and was not impressed.

Driving is the centerpiece of my game and the Magna was noticably shorter and lower flying than my usual ball (Supersoft in the winter/Chromesoft Truvis in season).

However, putting with the flag in did not result in any additionally missed putts.

On a separate matter, really enjoyed the new ERC

I found I was driving it short when I used it at the weekend, but I had put it down to lack of playing over winter and it being a little chilly. I didn't have my usual ball to try it against. I will perceiver with it for a few months and change back to an older e6 I have many of in the summer if it doesn't work out.

Does it seem easier to launch off the turf ?

I tend to struggle getting enough launch from my longest iron. Wondered if the Magna might help there.

erock9174, I have the same question. It's ok if it is not long. But, easier to launch. Maybe, there's hope for me to elevate for my G400 3 fairway wood, lol.

New review....

First time posting.

Finally was able to play them today. Weather was in the 60’s but course was really soggy with all the rain recently, so didn’t get any roll. Played 18 holes the front nine twice so I could get a better outcome of the ball. First nine I played the Magna and on the turn I played my gamer TaylorMade Project A yellow. First off I must say the Magna is really forgiving ball very straight off the tee and a decent launch. Very easy to launch a 3w off the deck. Will say what impressed me the most it is a really forgiving ball even on not so clean shots they still went straight and got airborne. Also it’s really soft. I really like the sound off the driver and the feel. I play a Ping G400 SFT.

Now the disappointment. It is noticeably shorter than my gamer. It was at least 10-15 yards shorter and I got better height off of the Project A. It was both lower launching with the driver and with the irons. For me. But it wasn’t distractingly lower just noticeable. I’ll probably stick with the Project A ball. But it’s definitely a fun ball to play with and very easy to hit. And it’s noticeably lighter ball that probably has something to do with the distance off of the woods.

Welcome to the group Fourrrr! Thanks, for sharing your review. This sounds consistent with other reviews. Easier to launch but shorter. Probably best for it's intended users, higher cappers, slow swingers where more solid contact might go as far as their normal swing. But, straighter. Getting rid of the worm burners and topped shots might make the game more fun, too. I see this as great winter ball too when fairway grass is thin. Tanner
