Fairway shaft suggestions

Recommended Posts

Im sure I'm not alone, but I would like to just hone in on a good fairway shaft I can keep for as long as possible I'd like something that has plenty of stock to find a replacement or duplicate for trying any new heads etc if needed. So cant be too exotic or costly.

Also it cant be too tip heavy, alot of fairway heads have been coming out heavier and shafts are being counterbalanced. So it needs to work swingweight wise in various heads.

I prefer x flex and 78 to 88 grams, I dont like too bendy of shafts, no blue boards etc unless in a TX flex, but not rebar either....

Some thoughts or examples of some candidates:

Speeder tour spec (played years ago)

Speeder evolution 757x tour spec

Diamana LTD D+ 70/80x

RIP alpha 80x

Atmos black 8x

Hzrdus black 85 or 75 (this maybe too tip heavy)

Tensei white 70/80

Tensei orange 70/80

Hzrdus t1100 70/80

It's just hard to test out heavier x flex in fitting carts. Need any suggestions. Thanks.

I think the quickest and most economical way is to connect with someone who has access to shaft profile software or has very extensive experience with a number of different shafts.

You’ll also need to provide input on some shafts you have tried and liked to help narrow down.

Know that since you are looking for lowercost, you may have to make some sacrifices (i.e. feel).

Xcaliber shafts are a good option (performance, price, and fairway specific)

I still want something more mainstream. I got some diamana LTD D+ 75/85. I think I may just get some hzrdus black as well and choose between them....

I find the weight of the shaft is the most important aspect of a FW shaft. I can pretty much play anything in the 80-90 gm range. I also like lower torque for a controlled feel. Other than that, not much matters.
