Bandon Dunes 5th Course (Sheep Ranch)

I just called and booked two rounds next October, had 8 rounds booked, had no issues swapping two of the rounds for SR rounds.

Although she did say they were booking up faster than they originally though.

I know it's all personal, but what's the consensus on the optimum rotation for 6 rounds with the ranch open? I always replay Pacific, usually Bandon too, but feel like sheep ranch needs at least two, one AM one PM. Do I skip replay on Pacific or skip one of the other courses. I know there are no right answer, just curious on opinions. 5 world class course is awesome but also makes it tough to choose, not necessarily a bad problem to have.

2 SR, 1 TR, 1 BD, 2 PD, skip OM. That said, if our group somehow changes its view of OM (played it 6 times) next trip, maybe we'll only play PD once. On the flip side, I wouldn't be surprised if we swapped out a PD round for a third crack at SR on the fly. So strategically, I'll probably book the second PD round for the last afternoon with the possibility of putting SR in its place.

No wrong answer.

G400 LST 8.5, Tour 75 stiff
G410 14.5, Tour 75 stiff
G410 19, 22, Tour 85 stiff

Vokey, SM7, 54S, 58M

At this point, I'd give up a replay on any of the courses to play SR, especially if I could get an AM and PM round in. If I had to choose one to give up playing to get on SR, it would probably be OM.

I am leaving open the possibility of skipping one round on the First Four© for the (remote) possibility of a preview round during our March trip. If that opportunity arises, I'd give up a round on any of them, whether I had played it or not. But I go at least once a year, so I would be secure in the knowledge that if I had to give up a round on PD, I'd be ok with that.

I'm looking forward to being able to plan the four-day, six round trip in 2021. Then it will simply be a choice of which one to do twice. If I can't get a preview round in this year, then it's a no-brainer: SR twice. 'Tis a good problem to have, indeed...

We went 2 SR, 2 BD, 2 PD, 1 BT, 1 OM. The doubles are staggered on different days so we have 1 AM and 1 PM round on each.

Cant wait.

Just got back from 4 days at Bandon (I'll get a trip report up sometime this week). There was preview play open this month- $50 and you had to take a caddie. From all of the talk there between the caddies and those that have been on it, they're making it seem that when it's all said and done that it will be the best course on property and hands down the best public course in the country. I get that it's likely very hyperbolic and there's still plenty to bear out, but heard nothing but absolutely great things the entire time.

Did you play it? I'm going in 6 weeks and would love to squeeze that one in.

Did they explain the caddie requirement? Was wondering if it's too additionally act as minders and make sure no one goes off-piste ;-)

I think it's for the routing and to make sure people aren't going off and doing their own thing. The way it's routed right now is a proposed routing and not certain and I think there's a lot of walking green to tee. My bet is since it's so far removed and still a lot of construction going on, they want what turn out to essentially be escorts with each group making sure people aren't acting like jackasses.

How were they advertising that preview play? Headed there in March and, if it’s available, would love to jump in and play, but I’m assuming that’s not something that I would be booking until I’m actually on site if it is even made available.

I am heading the first week of November and was told that preview play will not be available for general public. Preview play the first two weeks of November will be reserved for caddies and resort staff. For October, they are not taking reservations over the reservation phone line and all tee times are handled directly by the Bandon Dunes Pro Shop.

I arrive the 3rd of November and will try to talk my way in to a tee time but based on my conversations, this sounds unlikely to happen.

It will be the first question I ask the next time I arrive on site: "who do I talk to about getting on SR? I'll pay whatever you want and follow whatever rules you have."

If your next trip your last :-p

The course is only going to get better as it ages... yes yes I am eager to play it and if there is some kind of 'preview' option next April I'll likely be in on it.

Duffer, I think I have seen in other posts that you usually go in November. Will this be your first trip in April? My group trip is always in April, the week after the Masters. I'll be making my first solo trip in November this year. Bummer that the sun sets so early in November. We can usually play until 7:30 - 8:00 in April.

Preview play for resort guests extends through the end of October, so you shouldn’t have much of an issue.

Wanted to be sure if I got lucky I still got replays at BD and PD. If I don't get it, I will just have a good excuse for a return in 2021.

That’s where we’re at. Be there early May, fingers crossed for some preview play then.

Confirmed with my wife and her work that we will be playing the Sheep Ranch preview Monday the 28th.

Super stoked, especially because I played it 3 years ago with a buddy when it was just the 13 greens. One of my favorite golf experiences ever despite the 30mph winds and driving rain. Golf quite literally as it was meant to be played.

Unrelated, Saturday - Pacific, Sunday - Trails+Preserve, and Monday - Bandon+Sheep Ranch.

It's been almost 2 years since I have been for my bachelor party and I couldn't be more excited. Now on weather watch even though it means nothing until the day of.

Guys I am having a lot of trouble coming up with the itinerary for my next trip in 2021... We usually 36 for 3 days, play Pacific and BD 2x each and seem to be ok with that. I just feel like 3 days with the addition of Sheep Ranch is insufficient time spent at the resort. I feel Sheep Ranch deserves 2 rounds, Pacific deserves 2 rounds, and that would leave 3 courses for the last 2 rounds... I was thinking of adding another day so that we didn't feel like we were rushing our trip, but I also feel like there is no way that 36 for 4 straight days is happening. Idk... what are your guys plans no that there is another course being added to the resort? You going to spend more days there, or just leave something out?

I will post a review when I get back and I will hopefully snag some pictures to post (presuming they are fine with it).

I haven't been so excited in a while, really excited to see the actual holes and what they've done with the SR since I was there.
