$50 additional would be expensive!

I think $20 is hahaha. The pros are already at the high end for irons not including the additional $20 per club for black. Different strokes for different folks :).

haha not saying its cheap but you do not want to see how some PXG irons in black are going to cost

Ordered Apex Combo a week and a half ago from PGATSS and still had not received confirmation of the order processing. So I did what any good club ho would do - i called and upgraded to the Smoke finish.

What are your thoughts on Black club head with non-black shaft? I typically play C-taper light or PXI, neither of which are black.

Thoughts are that it's fine. My wedges are black head, regular chrome shaft. So were my last ones... It looks okay. In fact now that I think of it, having a black shaft with a black head (which I've done) almost makes things look a little 'confusing' at address with so much darkness.

Apex but the Rogue Pro are not hard to hit either. I had them in black last year and loved them. Being the ho I am I of course moved on and now want the Apex in Smoke.

And the Apex Smoke is up for pre-order..... they have been in my cart since last night.

Not bad but definitely started to show scratches and dings in the black after a couple rounds. I had a brief fling with the Cobra Forged Tec black and they did not show anything after a few rounds. What people say about those clubs holding up is true.

I think these will be replacing the miura's this year if all goes well for me. Hit them head to head on Trackman which had a little better set up than I was on before... and the Apex were getting the same level of spin as my Miura's but about 5mph more ball speed and miss hits weren't punished quite so bad. Shaft wasn't ideal so with my preferred Modus 120X I think I could have gotten even more ball speed. I was producing crazy spin on some shots though which really brought my average distance down. A few hits with the 7i I was seeing like 124mph ball speed but 8k spin. Thanks Golf Galaxy guy for giving my 94mph 7i swing a 1'' over length XP95 R flex shaft.

Just put the Modus 105x in the 4 iron and Gap wedge and hit them over the weekend to compare to the Elevate Tour. OMG....what an incredible difference in feel. I will be reshafting the others this week in prep for a Vegas trip, leaving next Sunday. In short, the Elevate Tours are really good but play on the soft side. This Modus 105 in X is just a step above for me.

Hey JC,

Nice seeing you around here. I'm playing with Modus 105 stiff in JPX919F but I think Modus 105 X would be better fit for me. I've been talking to my club pro about Apex Pro with Modus 105 but they are so damned expensive with very little profit margin from wholesale to retail price.

I hit an Apex Pro fitting cart head with Elevate shaft, there is something about it that does not really agree with me.

Today I ordered the combo set with Recoil 760 Smacwrap matte black. At least they'll look great. With as many players on this forum who love their CF16s, I'm pretty sure that, with any amount of improvement, the 19s should be just fine. I'm playing my J15MBs in the meantime and loving that but I just look forward to letting it flow and not getting so stressed out about making good impact on every shot. On the other hand, I hope I don't get lazy with such a forgiving club and long club.

I have had my combo set for a few weeks now. Modus 120 S hard stepped. After a little tweaking to get the gaps right I am really liking them. The turf interaction is really good and this is what I was hoping to improve over my 790s. I think the distances are pretty comparable too. Its been cold or raining or both so I have only had the chance to get numbers inside but the carry numbers are almost identical. I was surprised at how easy the standard 4 through 7 are to work both ways. I expected the maneuverability with the pros but not as much with the CF19. Once I verify the numbers are just as good outside, the 790s will be ready to hit the road. I have about 7 rounds in with them so far and the on course performance has been really good. Now if only I could putt.

Can the Apex Pro 19 irons come with a Project X LZ 105 shaft?

That is the shaft that was in the demo at PGATSS and I loved the weight and feel of the shaft (not to mention the ideal numbers I was getting)

I ask because when I look on the Callaway custom order catalog there is a notation that says "Available in Parrallel Tip Only"

I've heard of parrallel tip vs taper tip but I don't really know what that means, nor do I know which one the Apex Pro 19 irons are.

Any help is appreciated!
