played there two weeks ago...greens were not nearly as bad as you described but they were different. I believe they did "paint" them. They seemed like there's a heavy clay base, pitch marks were massive. They rolled pretty well. Aside from that, the course was in very good shape.

Aren't those new greens?? I'm playing there at the end of February as part of an annual buddy's trip and we were excited about the new greens they put in a year or two ago.

Greens are way better at Southern Hills, overall course is better too...it is my home course so I'm a little biased. Southern Dunes is fun and a great layout though. Both are in housing communities but the homes are much closer to the course at Southern Dunes. They're about 1.5 + hours apart so where you stay may make a difference.

Ok I just played it today. According to the guys in the shop the greens have some sort of fungus. Pitch marks when fixing were very soft and it seemed to me roots not very deep and shredded very easily. #12 had been recently aerated and the front right portion was resoded. All greens were painted and some had visible fertilizer. Noticed several trees had been cut down near the back of the 4th and 5th greens. Conditions otherwise were ok. Place was hopping as well. Shop mentioned tee sheet was full with 200+ today 2/8/19

We intended to stay but left for Country Club of Winter Haven

I was on a mini golf trip the weekend before the PGA Show. We played Hawk's Landing (1st time playing), 36 at Grand Cypress, 36 at Championsgate (1st time playing), and 18 at the Ritz. The conditions on all courses were excellent especially the greens. We really enjoyed Hawk's Landing (especially for the day of arrival round). Their new greens rolled so pure. When we played Championsgate it was in the 50's with 40+mph winds. It was a real tough test of golf. I really enjoyed the International course though. DIdn't love the National one but we were so cold by that time and we were anxious to get to the bar to watch the AFC Championship game. We have been going to Orlando for 9 years and have played many of the courses. I'm surprised to hear Southern Dunes's greens were bad. When we played last January they were smooth but were slow due to some overnight rain. My favorite courses in no specific order are the Ritz, Tranquillo, Championsgate, Championsgate CC, Waldorf, Grand Cypress, Hawk's Landing, and OCN (but haven't played it since the new ownership took over).

Championsgate CC for sure. Panther Lake will have less housing, but the service and course fun goes to Championsgate CC.

Played Championsgate Country Club today. There is a fair amount of housing. Some significant drives through the construction areas between holes. The one caveat paying today (was 129) was either Dunning / Travis shirt with the green fee.
