Movable weights in retail r5?

how is this done?

I read in the r5 TP retail vs tour debate thread where someone mentioned they had converted the fixed weights in their retail r5 type N to movable weights and was curious to learn how this is done. I don't think I would try this myself because I'd probably end up destroying a brand new club. :tongue:

Has anyone tried this and had success? Thanks!

I have heard about it too, and have seen a detailed post with pics about how to do it. Try heat gun, then twist the weights out somehow. The holes are prethreaded to fit the weights, so you just have to find some to put in it.

I did this with mine. Getting the external weights out is easy. The hard part is getting the pressed-in weight plug out of the heel port of the club. Careful with that part. Took a long time for mine to finally spin out.

A lot of people try to drill the pressed in weight out. I used an easy-out and threaded it in and then put the base of the easy out in a vise on the floor and just wiggled the head back and forth and it came right out. No problem at all and no risk of getting junk in the head ilike you can f you try to drill it. Works like a charm.

The other thing I would add is that it takes very little heat to get the outer screws out. I was shocked how little. Probably 5 seconds with a head gun will do it.
